Units!

FMK: I try to be :D

Dayan: I think you put the units in the wrong palette: there's color distortion in the one you just posted :(

It's actually pretty easy: open an existing Civ2 .gif file and paste what you want into it and save as a new file and voila no distortion. :goodjob:

Actually I live in the US and I made came up with "The ANZAC" after I saw Gallipoli :D And I just happen to repeat the same username for all my various accounts and such.

No I have never heard of Gen. Dayan but I have heard of another famous general: Sharon :) Actually I found out about Sharon and Operation Gazelle AFTER he became PM, oh well:crazyeye:

Hey I know Moshe Dayan, he is very famous outside Israel, but I'm not sure what he's so famous for... There is a particular event... er...

here's a units.gif that corrects a few gliches (like the red glitch) and saves on diskspace:

here are some units i've worked on that are originals. i've made a complete set from ancient units to about ww1, for footsolders, cavalry, and bombardment units. these are a small sample of my style, less detail in trade for more "epic" looking battle units. these capture a feel of what my units look like:

1st unit is a medieval settler unit
2nd unit is a medieval peasent milita (raising farm equipment in rebellion)
3rd unit is an ancient chariot army (looks pretty good in battle)
4th unit is a medieval peasant caravan
5th unit is a medieval peasant scout
6th unit is an ancient legion army (looks really good in game)

What is the red glitch

Just have to post here and tell you how great you designers are. The best one I could do would be a stickman-unit. Following this thread the whole time and I`m astonished about your work.

Really great great art.

some computers can't display the 240-255 red correctly ingame (it turns a cyan blue--it happens in old dos games a lot). it was really noticable on the archer and legion, and a bunch of other units. it's a really simple fix.

here's some more samples, since i feel the first set only shows some of my ability:

*1st is a medieval cavalry of knights and archers
*2nd is a medieval army of pikemen and archers
*3rd is an army of 1800's esque infantry (british) (really cool for the Napoleon scenario)
*4th is a rennaisance explorer
*5th an ancient group of horsemen
*6th is a cavalry of civilwar/western era (mounted riflemen and revolvers a blazin)

i design my units each separately, then just combine them to create an interesting group of units depending on how i want to use them. for instance with the 1st set, i could easily replace the sword knights with lance ones, or spear ones. these i kind of just threw together to look good. (if i posted them individually, they would look really unimpressive, heh)

hello everyone i have something to confess i ask dayan if i could playtest his scenario he said no because he did not know who i was i then told him i woud get him back i ask my dad who is a programer to help me hack the user database and **** up the respect but nothing really happened so i ask him to tell me how to fake the ip address you can get software from the cisco systems web site to find out someone's ip address i then setup more accounts untill he got banned i feel really bad now please let him come back it was not him it was me sorry dayan
p.s i know i went over the top i am sorry and by the way i was row and row is back

i messed around with making them bigger and smaller. 133% bigger is decent looking resampled, but it still lacks what i feel the smaller units have, a more militia type feel. i'm working on a scenario which sort of takes place around the discovery of the new world. though the pic below is unrelated to the scenario i'm making, it roughly captures the effect i want my units to take. it was taken some while back, so it isn't nearly as polished as they are now.

Looks good. :goodjob:

Why don't you use the standard zoom? It looks ten times better.

here's an even better pic of how the units are laid out. the idea was to make them look more powerful than their obsolete counterparts, in the way of bigger numbers, better formation/placement. this pic is a good example, ancient aztec bronze armies & chariots mounting an assault against the celtic musketmen and dragoons.
