Units!

Hello, i am new here, this thread certainly is amazing! I am working on my scenario about the balcan wars (1912-1913) and although i am making most of my own units i am having great difficulties with the city graphics. Does anyone know if there have ever been any balcan city graphics of the period for civ2? (the only completely balcan city graphs i have seen were in the fading lights scenario, but that is 15 century) However since i cant even find that scenario i could use them as well (for village graphics). I am looking forward to your reply!

ps: i have already made new units, for greek light infantry (euzonos) and main balcan infantry (which works as a food producing weak settler unit with strong attack qualities, as the hoplite unit in the scanrio Sons of Hercules).

nations in the game: Greece, Ottoman empire, Sebia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Rumania and (possibly) anglo-french and austrians (if the scenario carries into ww1) or albanians.

The scenario starts at 1879 (date that Crete was autonomised, so that it can be in Greece from the start of the game)

I mean its ok if no one has anything which could help my scenario, but i hope that people still care about civ2 (and havent moved on completely to civ3) since making scenarios is all about wanting to make others happy! :)

Hell yeah! People still care for civ2!! ;) We will never bow into the civ3 tyrrany ;)

I know I have seen some units created for for the 1912-13 Balcans war somewere out there. I can't help you with unit graphics at the moment as I'm busy making a scenario my self. I'm pritty sure I've seen this scenario somewere out there before...

But you might want to check there site's out:

Marvelous units made by Fairline

A great collection of units

And from Apolyton...

These are not nessasairy the units you are looking for , but maybe you can use some of them or at least find what you are looking for. :)

yes, i have used some balcan units i found in the units url (infact i will probably use almost all of those) but i also am making a few special units of my own :) atm i have almost finished with creating all new terrain graphics (apart from the grassland and plains which i have taken from other scenarios) and now am moving on with the rest of the units. I decided to use the medieval style city graphics for everyone since they are classic and almost generic (also since my villages graphics are made from editing those). Special terrain graphics include: village, greek monument (ancient ruins), manufactury, cottage, oil plant. special units i made up to now: greek light infantry and greek light cavalry. I am using a slighly edited map of the Death and ressurection of an Empire scenario. :) What is your scenario about?

Maybe you should open a thread were these things can be discussed. And I am sure many of us would like to see those graphics you have made. :)

could anyone made this unit for me? (i tried and failed miserably heh)

averof1.jpg

it is the battleship Averof, bought by Greece in 1909. It alone destroyed any enemy in the the first balcan war campaign (the ottoman side had outdated naval units)

Attached are Aztec and Spanish units.

I put them together to be played in the scenario "The Conquest of Mexico v2.0".

Some of Alex's Spanish units were re-touched, including adding the crossbow.

Most Aztecs are heavily revised from a couple of orginals by Erwan.

Special thanks to Alex Mor and Erwan.

Enjoy!

I revised these Napoleonic units for W.I.N.T.E.R.'s Great Napoleonic Battles v3.0.

There have been some unit substitutions, the lengthening of bayonets, re-touching, as well as more detailed modifications of select units.

Great scenario. I am sure his v4.0 is even better.

EDIT: I have edited some units and added a few more since I uploaded the file yesterday.

Here is a selection of Roman Chariots and units, as well as a variety of heavy knights and Crusaders.

Most units have been re-drawn, or are heavily revised from earlier units.

Special thanks goes out to Bebro, Erwan, Fairline and Tanelorn.

I couldn't find the type of elephant that I wanted, so I created a new one.

Here is a new War Elephant for your collection :)

Units from my scenario "Greek war of independence" set to be releashed sometime in December i think. I will welcome any help with units, especially ottoman units of the period (1821). Also i will need a "lord Byron" unit. Leonidas i plan to use some of you ship units, and also the cannonball :)

I only now saw your unit, thanks a lot!
I have given up on the balcan wars scenario, and now am working on my much more promissing greek war of indepence scenario, but thank you nonetheless for the help! The unit certainly looks very nice :)

I am in the market for some awesome-looking units representing the following:

-Samurai
-Crusaders
-U.N. Peacekeepers

I'm more desperate for cool Samurai than the other two, of which there are several available online -- but if anybody wants to share some that are new or rare, please do!

Thanks-- oh, btw, how do I post images? I want to share my lame custom-made Voyageurs unit.

I dont have any of the units you mentioned, but in reply to your question:

if you have an internet page you can post a link to that page with the images

if you dont have one (probably thats the case, as with most of us) you can attach a zip file of your work, and people can dl it :)

varwnos:

Hi :)

I am not the author of those ships or cannonball. I merely re-touched some of the units in that unit file, although some units were done by me, such as the diplomatic unit.

It was a while ago when I touched-up those units, so I can't remember every unit that I did.

To get the author's name, check the readme file of W.I.N.T.E.R.'s Great Napoleonic Battles v3.0 scenario.

Usually the specific units I draw will carry my signature, or I will specifically state they are mine in my post, such as the majority of the Aztec units I did.

But feel free to use them :)

I have already done some Crusaders and Knights (see a few posts above).

I am also currently working on doing more of them, so check this thread in the next few days.

Look at the options you have when you are about to replay to a another post. You will see an "Attach file" option. Make sure your graphics are in a supported file type, then browse your computer where you have it located, then hit the "Submit Reply" button, and you're done :)

Oh, and I almost forgot:

The only other unit I drew 100% from scratch, the Jesus unit.
(Warning: not intended to offend anyone. Might make a good resource for Rome/Judea scenarios.)
