Units!

:) I think that it was a rather small (i could be wrong) battle, but the greeks won (as for the battle of Thermopylae in 1820s that is) :)

How do you like my new city walls? i made them by editing the castle graphic :)

My units arent very clear in that pic, and in the city pic they are older versions of them (some details missing) , but i guess you can make a comment about them in the first pic :)
i am a newbie creator and this is my first scenario and my first units, but i think that they are very much in tune with the rest of the graphics, i want my units to look light and bright :)

Varwnos:
the pic is blurry because it's JPG format. Every time you save a JPG, the file format removes some information from the image, in an attempt to keep the file size down. GIF is the preferred format for line drawings with a relatively small number of colors-- which is what Civ2 graphics are.

Hope that helps!
:)

Thank you Mike :)
can you please share with me the SECRET OF IRRIGATION? my civilization hasnt yet developed diplomat units, and my limited military units cannot steal any tech by conquest, but i can trade my newly researched SECRET OF ROADS for that :)

Hey, that would make a good scenario. Pre-history. You start with, uh, nothing, and eventually get sciences like:

Hunting
Gathering
Primitive Biology
Not Fearing the Sun
Natural Weapons
Theory of Fire

Your new city walls are much better :)

Nice job. They have more detail and are easier to see.

Don't worry, I'm really a newbie myself.

Looking very nice.

@Leonidas: thank you for the kind words :)

@Mike: yes, we could have tech "get out of the forest" which enables you to build for the first time units that have a movement ability (before your units all have 0 movement) :)

Here, a Crusader has found the Holy Chalice.

(He'd better be careful before Indiana Jones finds out)

Here's another unit I "made" (actually adapted from another unit, and you can probably tell which one).

Presenting the Barbarian Queen, which replaces the Barbarian Leader and is a reference to a bad sword-and-sorcery film.

some new units by me, basic southern greek soldier and greek leader (from the scenario i am working on) I think that i am getting a bit better at unit creation (?) :)

Here's some Opel Blitz units for the upcoming scenario 'The African Campaign'. Nothing more said... ;)

Edit: Recoloured it to fit the war in Europe as well. It has nothing to do with the scenario...

Here is a collection of modern units:

From left to right:

1) Generic attack jeep - I removed the markings, added MG belt, bullets and darkened the soldier a bit.

2) Generic mobile SAM/Missile launcher.

3) Nuclear missile - I adapted this from CTP.

4) Stealth fighter - darkened it all by hand.

5) Stealth Bomber - Enlarged the default one by hand, pixel by pixel

6) Nuclear Submarine - I took an existing model, enlarged it, darkened it, and then re-modeled certain features.

7) Attack satellite

8) Battle Hovercraft

9) Space-age attack plane - I like to refer to it as the Sanger III.

Wow really good looking units, you guys are great :goodjob: just a small little question about this Denmark/Iceland 1920 scen by EmuGod? What's the storyline about this? Iceland's fight for independence? And how does Germany fits in? Looks interesting, can we have some infos about it?

I didn't write the storyline, EmuGod did, so for a more detailed description, find him at Apolyton.

But it was supposed to be something with Denmark refusing to grant independence to the Icelandics and it subsequently turning into a conflict involving all the major powers, like the Spanish civil war, possibly leading to a premature WWII.

Insurgent, that may be the best sig quote I've seen in years. :goodjob:

Back on topic:
I'd like to use the attached unit to represent Alexander the Great, and am wondering if any of you more talented GIF artists can change the symbol on his shield to something a little more historically accurate. Maybe something distinctly Macedonian? Or the ram's horns, which Alexander adopted as his personal symbol?
