Simply contact a foreign nation and trade them something useless, such as a luxury and they'll give you 2000000000 gold per turn, no matter how much gold they have!!

it's sort of a cheat, just ask any civilization for 2000000000 gold per turn in exchange for anything useless that you have, and they'll give it u
it only works about 80% of the time

Seriously? Are there screenshots showing that this has worked for you?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work in C3C. Whether it was patched out of Vanilla/PTW I don't know offhand.

edit: Screenshots; press the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard, then Paste into an image editing program like Microsoft Paint. You can include a single screenshot into a post by clicking on "manage attachments" while posting or editing a post.

You're playing unpatched Vanilla Civ 3, right?

Download the latest patch to get rid of this and several other bugs.

So, you used a trainer to give yourself loads of money? well done, have a cookie. Give us a screenshot of the trade window showing the 2,000,000 deal and the advisor saying they will take it (he's never wrong on trades, must be a spy to know all that...:crazyeye: ). Othwerwise, no-one will believe you.
Ive played almost every patch on Civ3, and ive not seen this.

Hiliarity ensues. This is true, I just tried it and you don't even need to trade. Offer something to see if it is acceptable and then you remove your offer and demand the tribute. They will give it to you, whether they even have gold in their treasury or not, whether they are allied with you or had just been at war and are furious at you. Unfortunately I can't seem to take a screenshot.

Also, you eventually rack up so much tribute coming in that it registers as negative (your income). I think you kinda overwhelm the treasury and it starts cycling through, that is... there is a limited amount of gold you can have in the treasury until it resets. I'm not entirely sure.

I think I have seen this cheat mentioned a couple times before... it only works for unpatched civ3 games.

So legionary... old, but good job finding it on your own. Now get the patch!

And the fact that we are both newbies is entirely coincendental.

In Vanilla, the max amount of money (lump sum or per-turn) that can be asked is 999999 gold. The box allows to enter max 6 cyphers.

"La excusa no solicitada es una acusación manifiesta."

The excuse which hasn't been asked for is a blatant incrimination. :)

This is an old one.

It doesn't work on a patched game.

From the Cheats page:

Diplomacy Bug
While negotiating with a rival, ask for a huge amount of money per turn, such as 99999999. The rival will agree to any proposal! For example all her/his cities. The rival will pay the amount even though he/she doesn't have the cash. This bug was fixed in v1.17f.
