Fraxis can rot in hell
I just declared war on darius for trying to settle near my lands
Then Hanoi my ally who i just gifted 1000 gold not 30 turns before attacked ME I popped Open the diplo screen and who was their ally now?
Thats right me, They where at war with me, their ally, for declaring war on someone else.
their snide little message tells me they hope we make peace. implying that I started the war on them. This is pure and simply unacceptable.

This is the same as entering in a war with allies in civ 4 and suddenly it declares war on your allies instead, giving you a diplomacy hit, and now in civ 5 because its a city state, totaly #$%@ing up your relations with your neighbors. To top it off you couldnt even save a game properly on release and there where a few other game breaking bugs. how do these idiots explain all this? While I'm posting for the benefit of others learning about the bug, to appease my anger I would be satisfied with nothing less than an explanation for one of their representatives as to why they care so little about their customer base that they would release an under tested broken game to the public..

probably you were supplanted as ally by Darius

sorry are we missing something?
It says right there I'm the ally. why in the hell would you be able to both control one city state, doesn't that sort of defeat the point of yknow. trying to fight over them?

It's an unclear issue in the city-state diplomacy statement.

C/S are pure mercenary - highest bidder gets the goods. So even though you were at ally status, Darius was also at ally status, but at a higher level. When Darius went to war with you, so did the city-state, even though you were still technically at ally status.

(I expect to see this issue crop up more and more in multi-player as people outbid each other.)

Except that in your screenshot it says "allied with you", which is bizarre, and looks more like a bug.

You said it yourself: If someone (in this case Darius) outbid someone, the city state screen normally states that you are friends, even if if (and this is shown in the bar) you have more than the normal 60 point need to be an ally.

The screen shows that he is ally, which means it is certainly a bug. 1st if outbid, it should state friend. 2nd, at war, the bar should turn red and usually should -60/-60

I'd really to test it: Which version of the game are you playing? Which patch? And which mod is it that you have active there?
