Upcoming polls

If I am not mistaking, remake's main argument is that it would be good to not allow everyone to play turns, and that we should vote on who is allowed to be a turnplayer. In the current version of the constitution, everyone is allowed to be turnplayer.

My proposal for a poll on this issue would be:

Currently the constitution reads "Anyone can play the turn." Should this be changed into "Before becoming a turn player, one needs to get approval of the team by means of a poll."

Yes.
No.

I think a simple yes/no question is the best option here. Remake, Sommerswerd, is this poll okay with you?

I have intentionally left the scheduling of turns out of this poll, as it is another issue. We can have an additional poll on that if you want to.

That looks good to me. The other issue is not as important as this one is, to me.

This wording is excellent, fair and clear. Thank you Norton I.

Either remake20 or Norton I can post the poll, or I can post it. Either way, just be sure that there is nothing else witten in the poll page other than what NortonI posted above.

The Title of the Thread should probably be something like
"Vote on Constitutional Amendment -Turnplayers"

EDIT: NVM I will just post it so that it goes up in a timely fashion. Technically NortonI's job is done since the Poll Master's job is to approve the poll or edit it to make it fair.

Amendment 2: Turn-player jobs, this will allow everyone who wants to be a turn player not have to wait 30 turns for their turn, but can have the chance to play every turn my amendment (which really isn't a change, though it probably will end up that I didn't read the constitution right) states that everyone who wants to play turns get assigned an in-game job. Jobs would be something like this, Unit Movers, City Governors, Worker Management, ect. That way if you are a turn player you don't have to wait 30 turns before your turn to play again. That way everyone will be able to play part of their turn. instead of playing 5/30 or something like that. If more people up we can create more jobs as needed. There is a down side though... longer turns. Then we have to wait for everyone to finish playing.

Just to clarify, this is amendment proposal #2, but if it gets adopted, it would be amendment 1, because the Constitution does not have any amendments yet. The only reason I like numbering them, is so that way you can tell how old the poll/ election etc., is without having to open the thread.

I have not read the rest of the post yet, so I can't comment on the wording/content of the proposal yet.

Still have not read r20's amendment proposal...

But now that we have our Starting location, we need a couple polls. Here is my suggested language for the two polls in Bold.

NOTE: We also need a poll for our first tech, but I will leave that for the Poll Master to design since that is a Constitutionally required poll, that we will always do.

1. Poll Title: City 1 Location (Turn 1)

Poll Question: Should we Settle in Place?

Choices:
Yes

No

Language For the First Post:
Should we Settle in Place?

Here is link to a shot of our Starting Location.
Explanation of Choices

Yes - We Should Settle our First City where the settler is currently located, on the Plains Hill.

No - We Should explore for a different location before deciding where to settle.

ONCE YOU HAVE CAST YOUR VOTE, TRY NOT TO POST ON THE POLL THREAD TO SAY YOU ARE CHANGING VOTES. VOTE CHANGING CONFUSES THE POLL RESULT. ALL VOTES SHOULD BE FINAL.

Happy Polling!!!:D

2. Poll Title: First Build (Turn 1)

Poll Question: What should our First Build be?

Choices:
Warrior

Worker

Language For the First Post:
What Should Our First Build Be?

We will NOT be polling every single build for every single city, however, the very first build is a very important decision, that the team should make by a vote.

Explanation of Choices

Warrior - For Defense, in case we get rushed by our opponents

Worker - For a jumpstart on improving the tiles near us, like sheep

ONCE YOU HAVE CAST YOUR VOTE, TRY NOT TO POST ON THE POLL THREAD TO SAY YOU ARE CHANGING VOTES. VOTE CHANGING CONFUSES THE POLL RESULT. ALL VOTES SHOULD BE FINAL.

Happy Polling!!!:D

Polls posted. Research poll coming up... I have to check in-game what all the options are, so it won't be online until I have access to my civ-computer. Unless somebody can give me a list with all research options now...

Damnrunner posted that the techs we have available right now are...
Fishing
The Wheel
Pottery
Animal Husbandy (AH)
Archery
Mysticism (Myst)
Mining

The tech poll is online... I see now that the last three polls are anonymous, I'll do my best to not make that mistake again!

Maybe we should start with the selection process for a diplomat. We want to start talking with a civ as soon as we encounter them, so we'd better have the diplomatic force ready. We need a thread to see who's interested, and then have (possibly two rounds of) votes, so we might just as well start early!

Poll for where fishing should go:

I am thinking that it would be okay ti just ask where fish goes and not weather is come before or after BW, so how is this.

Where should fishing go in our tech path?

2nd Tech
3rd Tech
4th Tech
5 Tech
Later on

As for the wording of the first post I will leave that up to someone else.

I think we can't vote for techs like this. I think we have to do it on a tech by tech basis. We should have a discussion and vote on our next tech, and it can be discussed whether that should be Fishing.

Example if we vote 5th tech, and after we find no horses we may want it 4th tech. Many other scenarios could change when we want it.

I see your point.

Since we need some time to vote, I will probably put up the next research poll 2 or 3 days before the tech is finished. There is a small chance that the situation on the ground changes in those 2/3 days and we want to switch last moment.... but for such cases we'll just have to learn to be flexible I guess...

Even if we do have a default turnplayer there is still a chance that he will not be on during the last hour, that's why we encourage anyone who can to play. And I just have a thought on the wording of the constitution. It sounds to me like if you see that we haven't played our turn yet that you can go ahead and play it. I will be really angry if this is the case. I don't mind that anyone can play the turn, but I think they need to at least sign up for the duties and wait their turn. Do I get this right?
This seems a little like a re-wording of the issue that we already voted on. The Constitution says "Anyone can play the turn" It is one of the fundamental principles of being an AMAZON, because "All AMAZONs are equal!" You made it clear in the last poll on our Turnplayer rules, that you did not agree with the Constitution.

It seems like you are still uncomfortable with the Constitution's promise that "Anyone can play the turn," and this is another attempt to put restrictions on who can play. I'm still not clear who it is that you think will just be logging in and just going crazy.

Why would anyone try to usurp other AMAZON's turns? We don't place any restrictions on who can sign up to play turns or be backups... So there is no incentive for someone to just play the turn out of the blue. But if you still don't like the way the Constitution is worded, then you should come up with another Amendment for us vote on.

You said we need a rule for what happens if the turnplayer isn't playing the turn, and I said we already have rules to cover that, so then you basically say, 'I dont like those rules, since they make the rule I want unnecessary. Lets make a new rule that makes the first rule I suggested necessary...' :crazyeye:

The reason I say this is because the only reason we would need a rule about who can play the turn when there is only 1 minute left, or 1 hour left or 10 hours left, is if we already had a rule that said "NO ONE CAN PLAY THE TURN, Except the person who is Up" or "NO ONE CAN PLAY THE TURN, Except the people on this list." If we had that rule, the We would need another rule for what happens when the person does not play in time.

Well, I'm still confused, but I write amendment 1... 2... 3... I'm not sure which to call it.

Okay here is my proposal:

We will keep the idea the anyone can play the turn, but their will be a restriction that allows for a little more order. I am not afraid someone will log on and go crazy, but I'm being safe and just trying to get organized. No offense to anyone, but there are some places where we are disorganized and I'm afraid that might hurt us later on. Organization can have a a lot of effect on this game. The more people absolutely sure what they are supposed to do can lead to more precise measuring and most likely better disicsions. Anyone can still play the turn, but before they do they must sign up to play and then wait their turn. What I'm more afraid of is someone new coming in in the middle of the game and seeing that if he wants to he can play the turn. He's read up on the discussions and moved that, but didn't read back far enough to see a major plan this turn. The exception to this rule is if there is less than 1 hour on the turn timer. If no one has heard from the TP and there is less than one hour left, anyone who can, DO. If you have time make sure you record moves and take pictures.WDYT?

Well, I'm still confused, but I write amendment 1... 2... 3
What are you confused about? Maybe I can explain further.:) If by "confused" you mean that you don't understand... maybe I can help. However if by "confused" you mean that you understand the rule, but you just don't agree, or that you just don't like the rule, then that is a little different.;) I only ask, because sometimes it is better to understand a rule before you try to change it. That way you know what you are changing.:goodjob:

Anyway, the Constitution has NOT required any Amendments yet, so any Amendment would still be Amendment I. However, this is your 3rd proposal to amend the Constitution, so in terms of numbering I would call it r20's 3rd Amendment proposal. Doing it that way helps us keep track of how many Amendments each AMAZON is proposing.:)
