Okay here is my proposal:

We will keep the idea the anyone can play the turn, but their will be a restriction that allows for a little more order. I am not afraid someone will log on and go crazy, but I'm being safe and just trying to get organized. No offense to anyone, but there are some places where we are disorganized and I'm afraid that might hurt us later on. Organization can have a a lot of effect on this game. The more people absolutely sure what they are supposed to do can lead to more precise measuring and most likely better disicsions. Anyone can still play the turn, but before they do they must sign up to play and then wait their turn. What I'm more afraid of is someone new coming in in the middle of the game and seeing that if he wants to he can play the turn. He's read up on the discussions and moved that, but didn't read back far enough to see a major plan this turn. The exception to this rule is if there is less than 1 hour on the turn timer. If no one has heard from the TP and there is less than one hour left, anyone who can, DO. If you have time make sure you record moves and take pictures.WDYT?

I am not sure how to make an amendment poll from this... I think I understand your concerns, but it is not clear to me what exactly you wish to change or add in the constitution. If you want people to vote on this amendment, could you write down the exact wording of the amendment and where it should be in the constitution?

Discussion about who will be our diplomat(s) and how to organize diplomacy is going on in this thread.

Before voting on people, we need to vote on one single diplomat vs. one diplomat per team.


Poll: Single diplomat vs. multiple diplomats

What option do you prefer?

1) To have one diplomat who communicates with all teams.
2) To have multiple diplomats; one for each team.

Explanation

Diplomat means a person communicating with (people in) other teams. Option 1 means that we assign one single person to handle all communication with all other teams. Option 2 means that we will assign a different diplomat for every team we meet. Each diplomat handles all communication with the team assigned to him/her.

In both cases it is still possible for other people to help with drafting letters, pacts and agreements, but the actual communication is only done by the diplomat(s).



Let me know if you wish to see changes in the wording!

I like the wording as it is. Nice and simple. If I were going to add anything it would be this one sentence:

After we have elected our diplomat or diplomats we can decide by poll how to handle UNOFFICIAL communications. (i.e. IMs PMs etc between AMAZONs who are not the Diplomat and other teams)

We may want to have NO unofficial communication, we may want to have all unofficial communication reported/paraphased, we may want it posted in its entirety... there are may ways to deal with this. But we need to choose a method that is comfortable for the Diplomat, as well as comfortable for the rest of the team. Diffirent approaches will probably be appropriate for different teams... Some teams may enjoy open contact some may prefer single contacts, but we can decide that later.

We may need a poll on whether to change tech from AH to Fishing.

If we are going to poll this, it should be right away, and it has to be a short poll. No more than 24 hours I'd say, because there are only about 32 hours left in the turn.

Should we change our Tech choice from Animal Husbandry to Fishing?

1. Yes - Switch to Fishing
2. No - Keep teching Animal Husbandry

Explanation of Choices:
We have discovered evidence that we may be on an island. This would make getting a workboat more important. Some AMAZONs want to switch tech to Fishing in order to get a workboat sooner.

Some AMAZONs think that we should continue with our original plan of teching Animal Husbandry, because they feel the loss in is not worth getting a workboat faster.

We have a special kind of situation coming up, because we are teching somtthing that may or may not reveal a resource.

We SHOULD NOT wait until we get AH to decide what we will tech next, because then we wont have enough time to discuss before choosing our tech.

So here is our dilemna.

1. What if AH reveals Horse? Wheel or no Wheel? Mining or Mysticsm or Fishing? Something else I have not thought of?
a. Does it depend on how close the Horse is?
b. What if it is in the BFC?
c. Just outside the BFC?
d. On the other side of the island?

We can make a plan ahead of time so the turnplayer knows what to switch our tech to when we get AH, no matter what happens with Horse.

This is probably going to take at least 3 polls.
1. To decide whether Horse affects our tech choice... Something like "Should We Tech Wheel Next if we have Horse in the BFC?"
2. Outside BFC?
2. What we will tech if we don't have Horse?

The question of whether or not our choice depends on finding horse, is automatically by these polls.

The only thing that is not covered is the difference between horses available on the island just touching the BFC or further away. Does anybody think that should be included too? In that case we would need 4 polls

I think these polls are fine. We have plenty of time for run-offs if we get the polls up now.

The "just-outside" of the BFC is more difficult, maybe we should just go ahead with these 3 polls and talk more about the "just-outside" issue. One thing that would influence the choice is How long until the borders pop again.

In a recent poll we decided there should be a single diplomat handling all affairs with other nations. Please vote for the position of diplomat:

The poll will be up for 48 hours and is anonymous. If none of the contenders gets 50% of the votes in the first round there will be a second round between the 2 persons that got the most votes in the first round.

IMO we should vote an alternate diplomat, because we might find we need one if primary isn't available for some reason and a situation becomes important. I gave it some thought and decided that perhaps we'd have a most fair representation in the alternate elections via having the original 3 remaining candidates contend, and then if 2 are close doing a runoff.

It would be very confusing to vote for something called "an alternate diplomat" or "diplomat #2" before first defining what that is. So, we would need a good description first.

I would think the First Assistant Diplomat would be there to assist the Head Diplomat in any way possible. In the absence of the Head Diplomat, the First Assistant would assume the duties and responsibilities of the Head Diplomat until his return.

We could also have a Second and a Third Assistant Diplomat, who would round out the Diplomat's staff.
