As most of us know, late game CiV games (especially on larger maps with lots of civs) tend to start to bog down. Maybe not during the turn so much, but definitely during the loading time between turns. Has there been any word on this being worked on?

Also, many people have issues running giant sized maps on CiV, even with top of the line hardware. Any idea if the exp will work on fixing this problem also? To the best of my memory it has something to do with the game only being able to use so much memory, but I could be completely wrong.

Hmm, well I do remember hearing repeatedly that time between turns gets shortened if you put it into strategic view before you hit end turn. That has to give us some insight into what's going on that makes it take so long. Only problem is I have no idea what that insight is...

I am noticing that on the Huge map I am playing on now, way late in the game. I am in like 2052 AD January, if I remember correctly. I am playing domination. There is about 2-3 minute loading lag between turns. On the turn itself, everything runs real smooth. I hope this gets worked out.

That is one of the most annoying problems for me in this game. Only because of long load times between turns despite my good PC specs I play on standard or small map & usually quit and start a new game as I enter in the Industrial era.

I asked about this on the 2k forums and was given a pretty clear 'No.'

Pretty soon I'll have time to mow the lawn, or watch a movie between turns.

I have the same gripe, CPU is well over specs as well, everything goes smooth but the time in between turns takes anywhere from 1-2 minutes in the later game. The beta patch made this occur even in the early stages of the game, had to uninstall the beta.

Aye. Frankly it's a little bit ridiculous that top of the line rigs have any kind of difficulty whatsoever in getting Civ 5 to run smoothly. I've got one of those quad core i7 things with more ram than you can shake a stick at and an above spec video card and performance is pretty shabby on any large scale map. Playable but not at all what you'd expect.

But Ed or Dennis have said tha tsomething was done to the way the computer computes stuff between AI turns, they split up the graphical .. AI? with the movement/decision making AI? So I'm at a loss. Did you get that confirmation from random users or people who actually work for the company?

It was one of the Mods over there who commented after a bunch of normal users. No Dev comments unfortunately.

Take that info with a grain of salt. The devs know this is an ongoing issue for some time. I bet they will do something about this.
