Is it possible to remove units from an army by any means once they have been loaded?

I imagine this topic will have come up here before but the forum search function isnt working. (judging by the amount of info here that isnt surprising :) )

Any help appreciated :)

I will use one army early to get the heroic epic and the military academy. Then any leader I get will be used to rush wonders. Once I have built the academy I will make armies but will not add units to them until I have modern armor.

If you have extra armies that are no good for attacking, set them as defencive units because you still get the happy faces for each unit in the army as if they are seperate. Plus they defend much better than a few defensive units.

What Woody said, though I don't put Modern armor in an army. I fill 'em with MI and tanks. I'd rather have 4 MA's out seperately, with a combined blitz of 12 than all tied together.

However, I would like to see an upgrade option for units within the armies. That would make the ancient armies of horsemen be able to compete in the middle ages--upgrade to knights, then cavalry. I believe this would be logical. Certainly, the civilization does not forget what an army IS in those thousand years...

However, the game--as I understand it--treats armies as a type of transport whose capacity is increased after the building of the Pentagon. It would be nice to have a "Wake" option for the units in the army, thus enabling unloading/upgrading while garrisoned in a barracks-equipped city.

So says me.

Your mileage may vary.

I like putting 4 modern armor in armies, you have a real good chance of winning against MI even if its on a hill across a river and in a large city. If you attack that same MI with 4 individual units you are bound to loose at least 3 of them and you will make the MI elite in the process.

Like Woody I create one army early so I can create the Heroic Epic. I fill it with only 2 horsemen. Latter on I will add a Cavalry unit. This means it remains useful over a long period.
