When you upgrade an elite* unit it turns into veteran (like all elites do) and the asterisk disappears. When/if that unit gets a promotion, the asterisk is still not there. Does this mean that the unit can now produce a new leader (asterisk = can't produce leader; no asterisk = can produce leader)?

Yes, after you upgrade the unit can create another great leader.

However, that elite unit that just gave the leader is usually the first one to be put into my shiny new army anyways.... :p

Thanks a lot. Yeah I tend to put the leader generating unit into the army myself, but it depends on what kind of unit it is. Most of the time I use my armies as 'city breakers', so pretty much all my armies are offensive. And preferably with fast units.

It has led to some interesting situations with me. What I do when I get a MGL is rename the unit that produced it the same name as the MGL. I also don't put them into armies. So a couple of times during AW games I've had units with absurdly long names because they popped 2 or 3 MGL. For example Tojo-Hirohito-Tojo II or Justinian-Belisarius II-Irene II :crazyeye:

I put them in the army the MGL they produced is going to build for me, just for the extra HP.

And cause I like to name them Captain <MGLname> :D

Heh. I usually (though not always) put them in the leader's army, but either way I name the Elite* unit <MGLname-genitive> <Unitname>: Ramses' Cavalry, Boudicea's Knights, Barbarossa's Longbows, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.

I name the elite* Captain <MGLname>, the army itself <MGLname>'s <something else>. Like Captain Darius who leads Darius's Marauders :D

Erm, I mean I name the army, suchandsuch suchandsuch. Boudicea's Knights, etc. Doh. But yeah, almost (but not exactly) the same as your style. :)
