Upgrading to Civilization 5 GOTY edition

I received a copy of Civ 5 GOTY edition for Christmas. I had purchased the original version back when it first came out. I installed from the disc and when I started Civ 5 again the additional items from the GOTY edition were not there. I had no additional scenarios and no additional civilizations.

I removed the game completely from my local drive. I then reinstalled the game again. The same result occurred.

I have an open ticket with Steam and 2kGames and was wondering if anyone else had this issue. I didn't see a thread for it, and Google search turns up a single thread on the Steam discussion boards where one user asked the same question and another said there was no known way.

Thank you.

mmhh...strange thing.

In Steam, could you please go there to the library, and check how many Civ5 versions are there present?
(I have totally no clue, but it might be that you have 2 installations there...or maybe not, no idea)

Thank you. I checked and only one version of Civ 5 is listed. I did manage to figure out how to get it to work. Steam expected to register the product key rather than install the game from disc.

I went to Games->Activate a product on Steam and inserted the key which came with the GotY edition. Steam recognized it and downloaded all the items for it. I now see all the additional content.

Frexion, thanks for the tip! I purchased the GOTY edition (part of a bundle, with G&K) and I already had Vanilla installed. Entering the code in Steam immediately kicked-off the download of the DLC I didn't already have.
