Upload thingy troubles?

In the last few days, I keep having trouble uploading jpgs. zip - no prob, sav - no prob, but if I try to upload a 35k Minmao screenshot the upload window never works. I need to try again and again.

Anyone seen that, too?

If it has a space (even a capital letter and you put a lowercase one), it messes up the filename. IE. mini map.jpg probably won't work (or even show up...). If there's the same filename, it gets renamed... but I'm not sure how. (maybe filename1.jpg?)

it's not the remnaming - it's that the window never even changes over to confirm the upload....

Do those images have upper case extension .JPG? You could try changing it to lower case and try again...

TF. nope, all lower case - and if i wait a while (say 10 min) it will work.....

the strange thing is I uploaded a 35k jpg, then realized I forgot the save, so I opened anotheruplaod window and sent the savegame. Got confirmation for the save - but the jpg didn't work

20 min later is worked

as long as it stays as it is (i.e. a matter of waiting a little) it's OK....

strangely, it's only jpgs.....

I remember having this trouble a while ago with a .gif, hasn't happened since, but this shows it probably isn't just to do with jpegs... I can't say my connection isn't crappy though

My connection, on the other hand, IS crap.

Actually, my post here concerns uploading with Opera. I use the Opera browser for my regular, well, browsing, but when I need to upload anything, the link at the bottom won't work, the pop up window doesn't come up and I have to used IE (grrrrr...). Is there a way I can bypass that window altogther, or to get Opera to open it?

Could it be related to Opera's Pop-up block? I don't know much about it as I use IE, but with my Pop-up stopper, I hold down shift when I want to open a page that opens in a new window (or when I want to open any page in a new window) TF, what is the URL for the upload page?

Yes, I have to disable my firewall when I want to use the upload window.

If you've got Opera set to refuse pop-up windows you need to press F12 and tell it to accept them before you click the file-upload link. Once you've done that you can switch back to refusing pop-ups again.

Eklektikos' suggestion is what I do: switch to "accept pop-ups", do my upload, and then switch back to "refuse pop-ups".

I am pretty sure that will take care of Octavian's problem.
