I just wondered: Would it be possible to have all city attack /defense modifiers also aply on tiles with cottages/villages/towns?
Because at least towns also represent an urban enviroment, so units being trained in urban combat should work well there.

If the cottage/town/etc improvements can be selected the same way as forests can in unit promotions/abilities this should be easy.

I wouldn't give full city defense abilities to the low-end stuff, though; cottages should maybe give 10% when a city gives 25%.

I would think towns should get close to full bonus. But I agree that cottages should only get a partial one, with villages beeing inbetween.

So how about cottages 5-10%, villages 10-15%, and towns 15-20%. Not as big as city bonuses, but still works for the defenders advantage, especially if the units would have equal Str.

(Bigger numbers mean the tile is worked, this wouldn't be a problem late game though)

Unfortunately it needs new tags to be added to the XML so that promotions can give values to improvements which is what towns are.

Doesn't a fort act like a city for combat purposes? We could do the same thing here, right?

Quick question: If anyone had primitive units left (unlikely, but still, sometimes I keep a spearman in a border city until war starts, because I didn't upgrade or replace it), would they get the bonus as well? Or would they be hindered because they were unused to an urban environment?
