Exactly Zachriel. Tell me, how did you do that clever thing with actually showing a picture in your post?

The last picture was merely attached using the browse button at the bottom of the forum posting screen. But to actually embed it in the message, right-click on any web-posted image. Highlight and copy the url (in windows it is in gray, but can still be highlighted and copied to the clipboard). Then you can use the image button on the forum posting screen, and paste the url in.

See how easy that was! (If you still can't figure it out, pm me.)

Sorry fellas, should have specified.

Believe it or not, it's unpatched. I am only going to try 1.16 for the first time this week.

Sucks, huh?

I played it thrice, and have gotten to 1865, by then the Persian/Aztec/Egyptian Triumvirate had beaten the Americans and French and Germans off the "island" and then, of course, came after me. I lasted for a turn until they overtook Free Uruk on the southern coast of the main continent before I could build a rifleman. :(

Just came here from OT (Hamlet's sig).

This is a VERY interesting story. Good job Richard, for maintaining it :goodjob:

I think i saved (rescued) the game (i downloaded the save game today and played it today (patch 1,21f). Look what i did:

When the game started (from the 1700s save game posted in this thread) the only city was FREE BABYLON, (the guy that started this game was making a LONGBOWMAN, but i changed it by a wall) then 2 knights and 1 cavalry came and attacked me, then i bombarded them with my cannon, and my musketman managed to defend the 3 attacks.
By that time Babylon was in war against germany and america.
After that attack by those 2 knights and 1 cavalry few turns later i managed to make peace with both germany and america.

Then i was in peace with everyone. Of course they were annoying me demaning me all the time to give them gold. I had to give them what they wanted so they wouldnt declare war against me.

After a while egypt and french units were still in my island. So what i did was give each civ 10 of gold for tribute (so our relationship would get better before asking them to leave my island) and after giving them the gold i asked them to leave my territory, and they accepted without declaring war.

Since the new patch came (1,21f) i saw that making trade was very important to maintain good relationship with other civilizations, sometimes some civs asked me to make mutual protection pacts but i disagree because i didnt wanted to involve in any wars. I saw that i was getting a little of money. So i made a revolution and changed to democracy, of course i built in my city:
(im gonna write each building in other how they were created)
-Temple
-Harbor
-Aqueduct
-Marketplace
-Cathedral
-Granary
-Barracks
-Coastal Fortress
-(right now building a factory)

Of course i was making settlers and riflemen, but i dont remember the exact order, because a war started between the other civs, i made sure to stay away of any wars and stay neutral. Because being neutral i managed to make trades with all the civs because i was starting to get more gold than before, since monarchy doesnt give much gold, but democracy does, so i managed to give them gold per luxuries, and the wars that they were having gave me a chance to build cities in the continent where france, america, egypt and aztecs were fighting their wars.

This were the 2 wars going on:
-France, Germany and Persia VS Aztecs. (aztecs got destroyed)
-Egytp VS America. (america got destroyed)

So in the spaces left by those wars i created 3 cities, where few resources were: 1 iron, 1 furs, 1 wines. I was getting the rest of the resources paying gold to the other civs, in other words, by trade. The only resources that were mine were those 3 previously mentioned and of course the horse that i got in my island, but everyone already have horses so they were not in any trade, althought i wanted to trade that horse in my island by other resource, but all the civs had horses.

Having iron, I searched which civ had coal to trade, and the egyptians had a lot of coal (because they invaded the aztec city that had a lot of coal, in other words that city with many coals were ogirinally an aztec city, but then egypt invaded it), so i payed (i dont remember how much of gold) to egypt, after having the coal by trade and the iron in one of my cities inside the continent, i started building railroads in my island (where free babylon is) since im not able to irrigate any tile in that island i made mines and roads and fortresses in all the tiles of my island plus the railroads with the worker that i build after building the walls in the beggening of the SAVE GAME.

Right now im having good relationships with the rest of the civs, and Free Babylon is 11 of size and having a nice production, right now building a factory.

From the beggening i moved the research to 10% (yes u get 1 civilization advance every 40 turns, but at least ur getting something, i already got like 3 or 4 civ advances like this, which means that i have played like 120 turns, but they were fast because when u have 1 city the game goes faster) and the entertaiment to 20% until i was getting many luxuries that i changed it to 10% or 0% (I dont remember exactly right now).

My plans to the future in case an opponent civ declares war on me, im planning to make lot of artilleries but first i have to research the technology to make them (making a lot of artilleries can help to defend very well, right now i have 3 riflemen and 1 warrior in my island but ill think in something when i continue the game)

I will post here the Save Game of how im doing right now, after reading a lot of u, i think u will like this new SAVE GAME, the date is 1948 (around that) and babylon is having a good relationship with the rest of the civs. After i finish playing the continuation ill post a new resume and a SAVE GAME.

This is the SAVE GAME right now in 1948 almost like 130 turns after the save game posted already.

Wow JoseM! A hundred more years of existence...

So you've got what, four cities all told?

I'll download and have a look tonight.

BAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA the whole story has made for great reading but that line just busted me up!

just out of curiosity but did ya have the game set for domination only? or was space race and UN vote enabled as well?

Great story. Very entertaining to read. Play another game Richard III and write another story. You are very good with words.

Thanks guys; I've been planning to take a weekend when my girlfriend is away to do an epic aztec/mayan story from the perspective of ordinary citizens in the empire, so I've been researching, and found stuff like an accurate aztec calendar on the web that corresponds real dates to aztec dates. All comes from a fetish I got while visiting Chichen Itza way back last fall.

But my main focus this week has been coping with the fact that my civ skills seemed to have been getting worse, not better; for some reason I was finding myself making stupid mistakes, like getting into wars unexpectedly, in one game after the next.

So I kept restarting until I stopped having an urge to punch the computer. And then I was doing well on the patched 1.21, and all was fine until I realized that I was playing the Brits for the first time ever as Richard III, and then I realized that the Man'o'War was my UU, and then I realized that I was under a heavy blockade by Iroqious frigates, and then I saw first hand just how much a "Useless Unit" the Man'O'War was, and then I started to pull my fist back to punch the computer..

Look for the Aztec one under the title of "Chief Speaker Cuauhtemoc" in the near future.
