One of my school's assignments messed up the equation editor in word 2007. Now it tries to write backwards (so if I type 2tf, I get ft2) Also, somethings, such as =, ^, and several other vital symbols/functions won't even work at all. Does anyone know what the problem is? Or, how do I reset MS word to factory conditions. Also, if I reset word to factory defaults, is there any way for me to preserve my keyboard shortcuts other than going in and writing down by hand every single shortcut? Thanks

PS: If it helps, I think (but do not know for certain) that my school write some/all of the math assignments using that free MS word clone  and I'm guessing that this is the cause of the problems as I don't have these types of problems in any of my other classes.
Finally, I'm running word 2007 on windows 7x64 Home Premium. Thanks for all the help

If you can't figure it out (I don't have an answer for ya, sorry) you can resort to installing OpenOffice (that free MS clone you referred to, probably) and using that.

I don't know if it does that anymore, but I've heard that Openoffice sometimes has problems converting the files so they can be read by Microsoft Word (the program your instructor is probably using to read them). Of course this only applies if you are sending it in digitally.

Yes, from what I've heard, the guys who wrote the class wrote the assignments with openoffice even though they knew that the students would be using MS Word (as to why exactly they didn't just use MS word in the first place is beyond me). Any idea how it messed up word? Not only does the problem exist in my school documents but ANY new word file has the same problem! Any ideas how to fix it? Thanks

The problem just dissapeared. I don't have any idea what happened, one minute it was not working at all and the next it was working fine. Anyways, problem appears fixed now so thanks everyone
