Use of airspace agreements?

Has anyone heard/read/said that via diplomatic negotiations you can offer your airspace or request use of another Civ's airspace? I think this would be a very, very cool feature. Much like the U.S./Pakistani current situation...

not sure how that would work, but I wish that it would be considered an act of war if they flew into my borders. I hated in Civ2 how the computers bloody helicopters were always in my "borders"

There is no info on that... I believe airspace is treated the same as territory. You'll need rights of passage agreement to enter another Civ's airspace ("territory"), or it'll be considered an act of war.

Heh-heh, I used to fly cruise missles over tons of enemy cities just to reach another enemy...even if I was at war with them.

Glad to see they'll see it as an act of war.

Hopefully, the AI will be a little more intelligent (diplomiatically) than it was in Civ2.

cool idea! maybe we can edit the files to reflect it. but i dont think it is going to be seperate from the ground unit enterence request.

Also remember that air units no longer move like "super fast ground units". They are assigned specific missions to carry out from wherever they are currently based. No more parking bombers over a vital railroad link to slow down the enemy...

I loved the Mega Defence of a Sth Bomber hovering over a fortified Mountain containing two or three Mech Infs. But to be honest, I will be glad to see the aircraft tweaked... It will definitely be for the better!

I also think the right of airspace use (in affect causing a non-fly zone if that was the intention) is a great idea. No more continuous air-reconnaissance stopping my workers cultivating MY land!!

Ha! I forgot about that - I used to line up bombers and send my tanks underneath, effectively eliminating any enemy ZOC that stood in my way, while making my tanks safe from any enemy attack. The new air rules should definitely be a change for the better!

Speaking of new air rules, wouldn't it be an excellent simplification if a Carrier's aircraft were "built-in" and worked basically like long-range artillery?

If that were so, maybe even the AI could learn to use Carriers.

How will you know that I violated your airspace? :D
