This is something that I read tonight, and I wanted to share it with you all, I would just post the link, but the link will not lead you to the exact phrases that I wish to share. The urge to post this was derived in some ways from the WW III thread. Any discussion is welcome

The man answering the questions is known as U.G. Krishnamurti

Q: When man is the same everywhere, why is there so much difference among men? I find a contradiction between the problems that man is facing in America and Europe and those he is facing in underdeveloped countries. For example, drugs, sex, crime, and pleasure are the issues in America and West European countries, but poverty, lack of education, and death due to malnutrition are the issues in the underdeveloped countries.

A: The difference is artificially created by the Western nations. They had the advantage of the technical know-how which was born out of the industrial revolution. When the revolution went to America, with the help of that technical know-how they exploited the resources of God's plenty there. You know there was a time when anybody could go to the United States without a passport. But in 1911 they introduced the necessity to have a passport to enter the United States. In 1923 they introduced the immigration laws. Once you are there in a particular place and establish yourself and your rights, it is finished. (I am giving this as an example, but this applies to every country.) If anybody lands and colonizes any place on any planet, they will establish their rights there and prevent all other nations from landing there. The Americans established these same rights. It was God's plenty that helped the nations to develop and hold on to what they have. But they continue to exploit the resources of the rest of the world as well as their own resources. Even today they are doing that. They don't want to give up.

Basically, human nature is exactly the same whether in India or in Russia or in America or in Africa. Human problems are exactly the same. All the problems are artificially created by the various structures created by human thinking. As I said, there is some sort of (I can't make a definitive statement) neurological problem in the human body. Human thinking is born out of this neurological defect in the human species. Anything that is born out of human thinking is destructive. Thought is destructive. Thought is a protective mechanism. It draws frontiers around itself, and it wants to protect itself. It is for the same reason that we also draw lines on this planet and extend them as far as we can. Do you think these frontiers are going to disappear? They are not. Those who have entrenched themselves, those who have had the monopoly of all the world's resources so far and for so long, if they are threatened to be dislodged, what they would do is anybody's guess. All the destructive weapons that we have today are here only to protect that monopoly.

But I am sure that the day has come for people to realize that all the weapons that we have built so far are redundant and that they cannot be used anymore. We have arrived at a point where you cannot destroy your adversary without destroying yourself. So it is that kind of terror, and not the love and brotherhood that have been preached for centuries, that will help us to live together. But this has to percolate to the level of human consciousness. (I don't want to use the words 'consciousness', or 'human consciousness', because there is no such thing as consciousness at all. I use that word only for purposes of communication.) Until this percolates to the level of human consciousness, in the sense that man sees that he cannot destroy his neighbor without destroying himself, I don't think it will help. I am sure that we have come to that point. Whenever and wherever you have an edge over your adversary or your neighbor, you will still continue to exercise what you have been holding on to for centuries. So how are you going to solve the problem? All utopias thus far have failed.

The solution to this problem lies in our thinking, not in our doing, because our doing comes FROM our thinking. And when our thinking is in harmony with what we really are (good, well-intentioned souls exploring the physical plane on Earth), what we do about that comes naturally to support it.

The ultimate solution is for people come to the knowledge that We Are All One: all born from and into the same place, all made of the same "stuff" inside and out, all souls connected each other as well as to something we could call "God" or "The Source" or "The Creator", whatever. Coming from this place, we see that we cannot affect another without also affecting ourselves, AND what we do for or to ourselves we also do for or to all others. We would choose not to hurt another because we'd know we were hurting a part of ourselves, kinda like punching yourself in the leg or slamming your own hand in the car door.

A common example everyone can relate to is traffic: Coming from here, we'd choose not to needlessly cut off another person on the road because we'd know that person was a part of us, a part of our family. How many would cut off or honk at or give the middle finger to their wife or husband or brother or mother in traffic? But those people are on the road too and if you're not paying attention, you just might do that (how embarrassing

). It is so easy to regard someone you do not know as a person not deserving of as much respect as you give your own loved ones.

People take care of their families. I just broaden my definition of "family".

Great post, Johan.

When you think about it, everyone is someone's family. Doesn't it piss you off when idiots do stuff like that to your family? It's a good analogy to remember.

Hey Hip-man! Fancy meeting you here! Good to run into you again. Like you comment above. But please excuse me for a moment while I address something ....

<u>DESTRUCTION vs. CREATION</u>
I respectfully disagree, Xeven. I think it is natural for humans to create. Just look around you for evidence of that ... the creating of communities and buildings and businesses ... the progress of discoveries, etc. Even though there has been a noticeable share of destruction throughout history (we record and remember these better), if you compare that to the volume of creation there has been, the level of destruction pales in comparison. If we were destroying at a higher rate than creating, humanity would have died out centuries ago. No, there has been FAR more creation than destruction.

<u>DESTRUCTION THROUGH CREATION</u>
Anticipating one possible response to this, the destruction we usually wreck through our processes of creation today is due to the lack of awareness we have for the overall impact we are causing. If we were to expand our awareness, to see the world as a living, more sensitive whole and every plant and animal as sacred as the human animal, we would find other ways to create that do not also destroy (at least not without replenishing MORE than we have taken).

For that matter, I think it is more instinctual in humans to catch a falling baby than to drop one.

<u>WHY WE HAVE DESTROYED</u>
Plain ole destruction that does not even serve creation is a natural response to a perceived threat. However, threat is only perceived if one believes the illusion that there is anything separate from one's self or the All that is us. A threat can only come from something we believe to be outside of ourselves, and we would only destroy that which we believe to be separate from ourselves. Since belief in this illusion of separation is easy, and commonplace for humans throughout history, there has also been wanton destruction throughout history. But now that this illusion is slowly being exposed, we are coming to a place of opportunity to break with history and step beyond where we have been in the past.

<u>THE "LOCATION" OF "NO PLACE"</u>
I do agree that Utopia is probably unattainable, at least here in the physical plane. But the definition of Utopia as being "no place" is actually consistent with where it can be found. The spiritual plane, by virtue of being not-physical, it is naturally in "no place".

<u>THE "CARROT" IS ENOUGH</u>
An unattainable goal in the physical plane is not necessarily a bad thing ... it keeps the game going. It gives us something to strive for and, if we don't EXPECT to attain it (expectation is a ready source of disappointment/upset/anger/etc), any progress we make towards it improves our world, even without ever attaining it. To make our world as close as we can to the spiritual place where we came from and will return to ... a.k.a., Heaven on Earth. A worthy goal, I think, and something to move towards daily, even if done so ever so slightly in one's own "little" life, which we think doesn't have much impact (but which does).

There's one to think on for a while.

Great Topic.
Here is my "filosofie"(hope you dont't find it stupid)

Basicly ,to my oppinion ,Humankind has one need: to expand it's horizon's.

This need manifests itself trough six "urges".

1: The urge for materialism.
2: The urge for power.
3: The urge for Ego.
4: The urge for sex.
5: The urge for violence.
6: The urge for mind enjoyement.

These are all inportant factor's within our nature. There are undenieable. But there is a differince if it manifests itself within a individualistic society or a one-minded society.

In an individualistic society ,these urges are very un-controllable.They can add to society or can be a problem.Still if it is a problem ,you can't stop it.If the individual will is strong enough ,then it always will find ways to manifest itself (even if it has to go very far).
The manifetation of the individual urge for materialism can add to capitalism (for exampel:new fouded industries) ,and can be a problem (for exampel: stealing ,doing unhumane things for money)
The manifetation of the individual urge for power can be good as a whole and also be bad.
(pretty obvious)
The manifetation of the individual urge for sex can be good (kids! ) or bad (woman trading ,hookers)
The manifetation of the individual urge for ego can be good as a whole and also be bad.
(although i can't give general example's here)
The manifetation of the individual urge for violence can be good (survival) as a whole and also be bad(obvious).
The manifetation of the individual urge for mind enjoyment can be good (creativeniss) as a whole and also be bad(hard-drugs).

As i stated above ,these urges will always exist. If these urges hadn exist ,we as humankind probably wouldn have existed till now.

Utopia ? (according to me)
--------
Is a system that know's the fault's of human nature. And it is a system that prevent's the bad forms of urge's of human nature to manifest itself.Utopia must be a system that is either ruled by an perfect body ,or a perfect system that is un-controlleable.

It's just my filosofie ,hope it gets good comment's.And that nobody brake's it of to bad.I stand open to criticism.

This is the former Johan511 - But with a new Face, I have decided to retire my old name in the wake of a new birth - and I want you all to see that new birth in my just pushing aside all of my posts and things that really have no meaning. Some of you will recgonize my new name because is derived from the moive crouching tiger hidden dragon, This movie brought tears to my eyes because in watching it something gave way inside of me, and I was show what steps I must take next on my journey in life. I have all this great energy amd knowledge inside of me - and I have spoken to many great and wise men - but I was never clear on how to focus my energies to bring about what I wanted in reality. As most of you know I was brought up in a christain home, my grandfather was a Baptist preacher, and I was raised in a capalist society, but after reading UG rishnamurti, Alan Watts, J Krishnamurti, and many others I know what awaits me in life and what I must do to change my world, and maybe yours.
I stand before you in testament and with my deepest concern that change is always at hand -- And you may and can do whatever you wish in the realm of life on earth!
