This looks like a very promising mod, and I really want to play it.
Arrgh! failed to unpack using WinRAR 3.51 Error message as follows: C:\Temp\Civ Stuff\Song+of+the+moon(v[1].0.102).rar: CRC failed in Song of the moon\Assets\art\terrain\textures\polargrids.dds. The file is corrupt

I will post a mirror file and a zip file of v0.102 shortly

t can be a memory problem, as my gpu sucks, but I've never had this problem with Vanilla.

It works fine on vanilla because the terrain file sizes are small and thus use less memory.

Edit: when I have time I will made a terrain patch for low end graphics cards.

And thanks for the compiliment. I needed that after a really poor alpha release and all the other degrading comments we are getting.(some people don't seem to relize this is only an alpha version and far from complete)

No kidding. We need all of the positive feedback we can get. We know it's Alpha. I'm thinking we should have kept this for the few of us and saved ourselves the abuse. And I'm only partially joking...

I was thinking exactly the same thing

Okay here is a .zip version of the mod:

And a mirror of the .rar version:

Did you know Tami Yoselof? She's one of my mum's best friends.
Nope.

About this being the first TC - it is. All the other mods out there change the game (some do it more than others), but this one takes the game away, and puts a new one on the same engine. Personally I'd argue about the "first" bit, as it's still quite a way from completion... I might be as bold as to say it's a tiny bit behind the 40k mod from what I've seen :mischief:

That zip seems corrupted by the way.

Although your mod may have indeed been released a tad early, people here need to realize (realise :goodjob:):

- This is only your ALPHA version, as in BEFORE BETA, as in BEFORE FINAL PRODUCT!

- By getting this out now you are getting feedback on: mod bugs, game play issues, performance on different machines, etc. etc., all which will make the FINAL product all that better

- You and your team are GIVING your work to others to play and enjoy - no money down. I sometimes believe people unfairly EXPECT perfection from the modders who do these mods for their own satisfaction / ego (not meant as an insult ;) !) and then share it with the whole world.

As I no longer have the time or patience to learn all the new coding and mod games myself, I, for one, am greatful for all you guys that do know this stuff who make it nothing more than a simple download / install away.

Thank you. We should put this post on the first page!

I join the group :D

Hmm, yeah people are either a) ignorant as to what is meant by the term Alpha, Beta testing comes AFTER the alpha, or b) ungrateful that we took time to try to make something nobody has made before

FfH changed ALOT however, we literally took the game and threw EVERYTHING away, literally deleted almost every legacy object from our game and painstakingly added new ones we designed ourselves. I believe we have captured the struggle of surviving on the moon in our ALPHA! The fact that I finished an entire game and enjoyed it on a version that was only just made bug free yesterday says something about the quality of our alpha, yes we KNOW we have work to do, but we never said this was the final product

Song of the Moon seems to be crashing my game. I was playing a hotseat game with my friend, and everytime he tried to build a collector, the game crashed. No error message, too, except for the Windows "Send error report" dialog. If I should include a save-file, then I'll edit my post to include it.

Thanks for the bug info. I don't think we will need the save file to fix it.

I'm slowly but surely revamping the 1st era tech tree. It will be less cluttered and hopefully be less confusing.

Also, I'm playing a single player game, and it seems that the tech tree narrows drastically arond turns 90-110. Is this a feature, or a bug?

This looks like a very interesting mod, judging from the limited information of screenshots and Features list (I haven't downloaded it yet) :goodjob:

But with the American/British spelling discussion and bugs discussion, you might be hurting the interest in this mod. A person who might be interested in this mod will see this whole discussion and just move over to the next mod which looks more finished, which would be a shame of all the work you guys put into this civ conversion.

You might help the interest in this mod by starting a new thread when a more stable/finished version of this mod becomes available. By the way, this is just general unasked for advice, so just ignore it if you disagree.

Good luck bug hunting and development with the SDK when it becomes available.

I was thinking the same thing. We need to lock this thread down and start a new one either with this working version or the next one.

If by narrows you mean you have one choice, then that's on purpose. It's our temporary way of being "cut-off" from Earth. You'll notice an Isolation tech that separates the 1st and 2nd eras and once you research it you'll lose the food from the Helium3 Plants and you'll get the gold instead. This is supposed to correspond to losing trade with Earth since they were giving us food for energy. I hope that explains it. ;)

Ohhh. Now that makes sense. And, it crashed again. As far as I can tell, I wasn't doing anything special. I'll restart the game, and see what happens.

Thanks for hanging in there drankonik dispite some of the bugs. It really helps us in releasing a better bug free version later. Any little information of the bug helps us find it and fix it. Thanks again.
