No, I'm Chinese born in Indonesia but goes to Japan for study (留学生 - foreign student). Yep that sounds complicated lol
I think there are several Japanese in this forum. Lots of Japanese play game, it's just not easy to spot them on English language forum.
Because even though they might be fluent in English, they still rather talk in Japanese~
If this might interest you, we have special term (Hikikomori) for people that don't go outside of the room (watching TV, playing video games etc) all day and don't socialize to worrying degree.

True, but in my mind at least, knowing what the uniques do is the is the really interesting part of the first looks.

Ah yes hikikomori, I heard of that in NHK ni youkoso anime^^ always found it odd how a lot of Japanese are really into video games but not really PC, there's got to be some though!
