NO it was one of the bad game mechanics in civ 4 Olso remeber that the AI in civ 5 is way more agressive and usaly dows the weakest AI (ever seen dogpiles of decleration because someone is weak?

SO you would be at war constantly because of you're silly vasal because he has not a huge military and little land only a few units

Why the AI wouldn't take in consideration the master civ's military strength, it does so in civ4 IIRC.

I can see the argument for including vassal states, but they would have to rework it from its use in CIV. Also, on another note, at this late stage I would be extremely surprised if they decided to add that to this expansion now. I think we can assume it's not coming, at least not in this expansion.

Ok true BUt I Could still see them giving you a huge tech advantage if you are warmonger .

Because If you could sign research agreements with them... .

I guess vassal states are kind of represented by puppet states. Although it is cute having a little pet empire I think this is probably a better system.

I thought vassals never worked the way they were supposed to. They usually ended up with the civ becoming a vassal of a third party rather than submitting to you. It was highly unsatisfying.

Awhile back, I posted a thread called A Civ5 approach to vassals and colonies. It approached it by saying that a simple port of a Civ4 feature (especially a less than satisfying one) is a bad idea. Instead, you should look to religion, which took some of the flavors of Civ4, but designed it to work in this game. Likewise, I made a suggestion for Vassals using City-States that's quite different from the Civ4 approach. Essentially, it's gaining allied city-states through violent regime change (using military to defeat the City-State).

i think they should bring back vassals, albeit in a different form. that is one thing this team is doing really well i think, taking old ideas and revamping them for CiV.

One thing they should add in a following expansion/ update are vassal states.

Moderator Action: That's not really enough for a serious discussion ^^.
If you really want to discuss this, then please put some more work in the OP ;), else use this thread please. Edit: Or the thread which Louis mentions.
