VB2-Mayan Melee

So is this SG officially dead? Funny how the SG originator falls absent, the game goes on without. Then he comes back and basically kills a game that was progressing (no offense, just a bit strange).

Is anyone interested in continuing this?
If so, it's hard for me to see that our founder, absent for ages, is going to be the one to drive this game to the next turn. If we are to progress, we need to either 1) hear from vbraun VERY SOON. or 2) proceed with the previous order:

vbraun - ?
Ville - Up, play Andvruss's 1.15 Save
Oddible
Bugs
Andvruss

If vbraun and someone else doesn't continue, I'm leaving. All should report in this thread if we want to continue!

Ville,
If you want to take Andvruss' save and play, that's fine with me. It's difficult to play a game where the sponsor isn't involved and makes snap decisions.

I'm up for continuing...

Andvruss?

Ville, I'm waiting in the wings - if you take Andvruss's save, I'm all over it.

I think there are four of us. Andvruss is probably moving from Houston to Russia, or moving from Russia to Houston.

I played like vbraun did, some minor changes like +1 turn research and Sold AT for Byzs for 100g+96gpt+WM

I think he means your avatar. The background is different, still the same dome.

Initial Thoughts

Ville has generously left me with 4300+ in the treasury. My immediate thought is to buy some of the half produced Courthouses on the north end to get our production up. Also looks like we need some Aqueducts up there. Our defenses are still a bit slim though I see a lot of Infantry being produced down south. There is a 14 unit army on the north end and Breclev, our most isolated Austrian trophy, is all offense. We have a one Galleon navy. Hoover Damn in 4!

Portugal is taking some heat. They're in a war vs Byzantines, Sumeria and Austria (hmm, Austria eh).

Pre

Rush 7 cities on the north end at a cost of 900 (courts, aque, temple).

IBT

Hitties join Portugal against the Byzantines.

Portugal asks for an MA against Austria. I ask for World Map and Silks, they want $550 more. I take it.

WAR WITH AUSTRIA!

We lose 3 workers to the Austrian vangarde.

New Palace addition.

1500AD - 1

Institute the draft in the north and all size 12 cities, figure this will give us a nice defense base for the future and with the silks we shouldn't take too big a discontent hit for it. Am most worried about Austrian shipping as we have no Navy.

Upgrade 5 Muskets for 450. [Sorry, Ville, I'm spending all yer hard earned dough - will earn it back, I swear!]

Pull Science slider back to 50%. Lux still at 10. +197gpt.

Knock out some easy Austrians and get our workers back.

Moving 2 Army groups forward, north and south Austrian attacks.

IBT

Ausitria moves a handful of MI, Knights and Longbowmen into Maya.
Takes back my workers!

Sumer is not doing so well. Portugal is sweeping them pretty easily.

1505AD - 2

I draft a second round of 12 cities and norther cities.

Move in on Austria.

Trade Sumer Iron for World Map and 30g.
Trade Hittites Horses for 12g and WM for their war against Byzantium.

IBT

Lose a few conscripts, get a regular.

1510AD - 3

Lose 2 Cavalry but take Vienna. 5 Pike defenders.

IBT

Lose spices. Trade Incense and Furs to Hittites for Spice and 1gpt and WM (was 2gpt).

Hoover Dam!
If there was any question of Mayan hegemony, there is none now. Unless a superpower emerges on the other continent, there is little to stop our complete global domination. Perhaps at this point we should give ourselves a challenge and always war with the entire other continent!

1515AD - 4

Salzburg falls.
Luxury slider up to 20%.

1520AD - 5

Troop movement.

1525AD - 6

Troop Movement.

IBT

Rioting :o

1530AD - 7

Lienz falls.
I'm losing serious cavalry to pikemen.
3 cavalry lost to take a 3 pikemen city. Jeesh.

Krems falls. Lost 1 Ancient Cavalry.
I route the remainder of the calvalry from Krems to Bischofshofen.
Glad I took those workers with the invading force.

Bischofshofen falls.

IBT

Sumer is in trouble, Portugal is getting massive.

1535AD - 8

Trade Sumer Nationalism for wines (which they probably won't have for long) in hopes that they'll defend themselves.
Trade Inca Nationalism even though they're not at war, just in case.

Troop Movement.

The people are unhappy. Was hoping we could sustain this war until we pushed Austria from the continent. Could get costly.

IBT

Inca sign an MPP with Byzantines - war against Austria and Hittites. We should consider trading Hittites Coal next time our Spice deal is up.

Krems deposed our governor and went Austrian on us.

1540AD - 9

Eisenerz falls. No losses.
Krems falls (again).
Gmuend falls.

Pushing rail to all corners of Austria.

On a whim, attack Innsbruck. Lose 1 Cavalry. Get a great leader named... "Eighteen Rabbit"?!?
Cavalry fail to take the city. On my last Medieval Infantry, the city falls.

I converted Eighteen Rabbit to an Army (since they can no longer rush city production), in case the rest of this war yields another leader. Only one city left on the continent.

IBT

Refining -> Sanitation

1545AD - 10

Kufstein falls. The continent is ours!

Trade Sumer Horses for WM and 140g

Parting thoughts

Since Austria is still at war with everyone we should just finish them off before anyone else takes that island. There is one Galleon in the north and 2 more coming on line next turn. Austrians are still refusing anyway.

There is a 96gpt deal with the Byzantines expiring in 8 turns.

We have 2 sources of oil on the mainland, one by Chichen Itza and one by Copan. Austria has oil in Eisenstadt.
Inca and Byzantines have oil. Hittites have oil on their island possession. Portugal has NO OIL. Which means as soon as they get Refining, they're starting a war with someone to get it.

Hittites have no rubber. We'll probably want to help them with that. They'll likely try to take it from the Incans on their island, but Incans have an MPP with Byzantines.

All rubber and oil is exposed and therefore vulnerable to strategic strikes.

There may still be some danger of culture flipping in Austria - not much tho.

Oh yeah, we should probably use our Army in battle once to get the Heroic Epic.

Yeah, I meant the avatar. Funny that you changed your pic and it's nearly the exact same one! Did the new forum software change the allowable avatar size? (When do I get to the required number of posts to have my own avatar - jeesh, feels like I've been posting here forever!)

Sounds like we have reached some decision making.

We own our continent. Outstanding work gentlemen! :goodjob:

Shall we take the fight overseas? If so, what shall our campaign strategy be. I think setting up a ferry across to the Byzantines would be the most effiecent resupply line. I think of crossing just to the west of Chichen.

Thoughts? Oh, BTW, I have the game, but I will wait for everyone's thoughts.

Sorry guys :o i coudnt find time to play the turns. and i got really busy with other stuff. today i searched my computer for 1.15b and it turns out i never had it :hmm: so i re-downloaded it (dial-up...) i should be able to continue this sg if you guys will let me.

It is OK VB! Please read through the logs and let me know where we should take this game. We are presently at a crossroads.
