VB2-Mayan Melee

I'm up. RL intruded last night as Mrs. Bugsy is coming down with the flu. I will try and get this played in the next 18 hours or so.

Pre-flight – 1750 BC – The Dutch have IW, but won’t consider a trade.
MM to grow a few turns faster in Palenque. We are very crowded. Looks like we’re going to be going to war soon. That means either horses or swords. I switch over our builds to warriors in all but Copan (we’d lose some shields there)

IBT – Palenque: Warrior=> warrior

1. 1725 BC – Get to move two guys, a settler is on auto-move to a place I wouldn’t have selected.
IBT – Chichen: Warrior=> Jav Thrower This could be a decent settler factory if we actually had more that two people living there.
Copan: Spear=> Jav Thrower

I forgot about Jav Throwers. I would switch the other build to a JT, but at 29 turns, it is too slow.

2. 1700 BC - :sleep:
3. 1675 BC – A Dutch warrior moves towards one of our settlers, so I cover with one of our warriors.
4. 1650 BC – Chichen and Palenque grow. Everyone is still content. Monarch is nice like that.
5. 1625 BC – Found an aggressive Tikal.
6. 1600 BC – Found Yaxchilan. Here after referred to as Yax-town.

IBT – Chichen: JT=>Rax
Palenque: Warrior=> Rax

7. 1575 BC – Venture over by Rotterdam. The Dutch have Ivory. Science backed off to 90%, math still due in 6.
8. 1550 BC – Science to 80%.

IBT – Copan: JT=> Rax

9. 1525 BC – :sleep:

IBT – Willie kicks us out of his territory.

10. 1500 BC - :sleep:

After action report: We need to be exploring. I have three warriors out looking around. One to the NE, and two heading there. Remember we can't trade contact until Navigation.

If we are stuck on this rock with William we will want to start heading on a research path to Map Making. Ships would be good to have.

I’ve started to strengthen our military. Math is known in 4 turns. Maybe then we can trade Willie for IW. Chichen will be at pop five soon. Try to keep the pop up there so we can have a 5-6 turn settler factory.

Have Fun,
Bugs

Most important things in my turns:
Got Mysticism from hut, traded with dutch: gave mathematics for iron working and 25 gold, gave mysticism+60 gold for writing.
Started researching Philosophy (5 turns left in 1250 BC),free tech would be nice:D

Philosophy would be good to get. Hopefully we will be first to get it and the free tech(and maybe a SGL :D). Whos turn now?

Are we going to get more detail on those turns or is that it? It is hard to discuss the game when we don't have a lot of details. We got IW. Do we have iron anywhere nearby? How's the settler factory going? Have we discovered anything new? What tactical and strategic decisions did you make? Other than science is there some direction you would recommend for the team?

If we're going to be a team, I just think we need to communicate a little bit more. It is part of SG's that make it fun to play.

Sorry, that's it:(
I will write a detailed turn report next time.

There is Iron near, Dutch have Iron too. Settler factory, oops, I forgot to make settlers:( sorry

I agree. Could someone at least post a scrennie so we can plan ahead.

I wish i could but i have dial-up and it might take a couple hours to upload a scrennie.

@SuperBeaver- Your up. But dont take the turns untill after a scrennie has been posted and that after we have somewhat discussed our genral direction.

Thanks Ville. A picture tells a thousand stories. It looks like we may have a pretty decent force built up in Tikal. I can see the Dutch have iron hooked up. Can anyone see our iron?

I'd upgrade our warriors, Then I think a quick war to clip some Dutch wings may be in order. If we go after and capture Rotterdam and Amsterdam. The capitol will shift to Den Hague. Utrecht will auto raze. It is in a lousy position (probably because of some future source of oil.) I'd have a settler ready to settle one east of Utrecht. I'd ignor Groningen and try to get it in a peace treaty. Sue for peace and try for techs and Groningen in the deal.

Iron is north from Copan (workers are building a road, so you can't see it)

Judging from the picture, I think we should send the army up to Rotterdam and capture the ivory, from there the main attack force would swing around towards Amsterdam, while a smaller stack would head up to The Hague, therefore cutting off Dutch access to all that land to the north, and capturing their iron. After that, just see what is possible.

@Ville- have we met anyone to the north yet?

The Beav has a much better plan. I agree. Go for the three largest Dutch cities and then evaluate.

"Ward, I concerned about the Beav"
