Version 2.x bug reports

Ok, I now tried 2.62 without megapack and it seems to run just fine (at least it starts ok, haven't had time to really play yet).

Hello! Joined the forum just to confirm: having the exact same problem as Agentus. On 2.5 and 2.62, megapack wouldn't show any menu at the title screen (no matter what I do with CvAltRoot.py), but the regular versions (2.5 and 2.62) both loaded no problem. I can also confirm, per Agentus, that the megapack loads a menu if modular loading is disabled in Rise of Mankind.ini -- but, in that case, during XML loading BtS spits out a long series of dozens of error messages about leaderheads, and once the menus subsequently load Sevopedia doesn't show any of the new civilizations or leaders (thereby defeating the purpose of the megapack). Assuming, therefore, that the glitch relates in some way to addon leaderheads or the XML code that works with them.

I can transcribe the error messages, and provide logs, later tonight (when I return to my comp) if it's helpful. Big fan of RoM and happy to provide any help in getting the megapack running. Thanks for all your hard work zappara, you rock.

On real life jungle areas it rains just about daily (fresh water) and cutting down the forests doesn't really affect local rain patterns.

I don't agree with this feature. I think it doesn't rain because it's a jungle, but it's a jungle because it rains.

I think I found a bug caused by this feature.

In my current game, I have a peninsula of 1 x 7 tiles. Like this:

coast-coast-coast-coast-coast-coast-coast-
grassland-grassland- jungle(#1)-hill/grassland-jungle(#2)-grassland-grassland
coast-coast-coast-coast-coast-coast-coast

In tile #1, I could build a farm because of the fresh water or chop the jungle. I decided to chop the jungle, and after that, I couldn't build the farm anymore.

In tile #2, I decided to build a farm, completed it and generated a not irrigated farm, without Canal Systems and without jungle in the neighbor tiles.

Maybe I'm missing something. Don't know.

First welcome to the forum! :)

I looked through the logs and couldn't see any problems in them that could cause CTD. I haven't seen or tested Windows 7 yet so I can't say if that is the cause for this crash or not. What you could test is to run the game on smaller map size (standard size) and see if you get similar problems with it.

Thanks for looking into it. I will try it on a smaller map if the CTD issues arise. :)

Hi zappara, I've already done what you told me to do, but I still met the crashing problems.
situation:
1:I deleted all the files in My Games. Because there was only one ini[CivilizationIV.ini]there. Now I can see many ini there because I played 2.52 with my friend for couple of hours.
2:I played BTS for half an hour[Holding down shift when loading game]
3:I played ROM 2.62 with Revolution and Barbarian option off [You said I had some problems when the revolution option on, so I thaught it may works]
4:Everything was fine till BrozenWorking maybe[Marathon speed, nearly 30min]
5:I loaded a save I made 1 day ago[with Revolution and Barbarian option on]
6:In the next trun, crashing……
I will post the log and the saves [1.CivBeyondSwordSave with the two option off and 2.CivBeyondSwordSave with them on]. Please have a look.
Also, I started a multi-game with my friend in 2.62 with Revolution and Barbarian option off. It crashed.
I have no idea with python or C++, should I download some updates for these softwares?
And, if I turn Revolution and Barbarian option off, you can find a solution?
Thank you, the second time.

It looks like Ranged Borbardment causes a lot of CtDs. When I was playing without it on large mage I crashed ~ once per 15 turns, and now when I play with it on standard map I cras every 5-6 turns, even in the middle of turn (i.e. when I mouseover an archer or move screen).

Yeah, archer. However I don't know what really causes CTDs, I have them quite often with various options. I must say, I mainly play with revolutions because it's the main reason of this mod for me. Also I used Advanced Gameplay modmod which allowed to build bridges and tunnels. Does it cause issues?

Well, I think it's the mod crashing in the whole. It was a specific game which crashed a lot.
I've started another and it's better, although options are almost same.

I must say that the game crashes quite often when you try to load, it starts ~ when you research monarhy. There is definitely a memory leak. If you are able to find it, it'd be great. Now I have to restart the game almost each time I try to load :).

i downloaded the Rise of Mankind 2.62 mega pack and it loads fine but when i start it halfway thru loading it gives me a ms visual c++ runtime error anybody knw how to fix this?

I have problems too with those CtDs. The problem is that it appears without any pattern. Sometimes it crashes upon completing a building/unit or researching a tech or while I am being attacked or just anytime. I've attached the logs I can post a save too, though I think it wouldn't help much.

The settings: Rom 2.62 not the megapack
all spy and inquisition options are on, all RevComponents,
Air Bombing, Ranged Bombardment, Naval Bombardment,
IDW is active

Version: RoM 2.62 (v2.5 Patched with v2.62 Patch)
Difficulty: Warlord
Size: Small
Victory: Conquest
Leader: Julius Caesar / Rome
Settings: Rev Mod, Barb Civ, Minor Civ, Dynamic Names, Peaceful City Flipping

This was the 1st time I submitted log. I hope I did it right. This is the 2nd time it crashed for the same saved game. The 1st time I did not have the log set up to save. Thus the 2nd time i was ready to record it. It was the same error in around the same turn. I also noticed a dog was attacking me both times i crashed.

I tried a few games without Rev Mod and Barb Civ plus went to Tiny map. They last much longer and only crashed way later in the game due to a memory allocation error. While i love the Rev Mod and Barb Civ mod I would rather actually keep playing a game for awhile rather than have it crash.

in 2.62 has anyone been able to build the statue of liberty? I've tried several games now and I can never build it even though I built a steel mill in the same city.

what are the real requirements to build the statue of liberty since the description only says you have to have 1 steel mill??

Can only be built in coastal cities just like it's in real life.

@Everyone

I've tried and installed v2.62 Megapack again myself. It ran without problems. So at the moment I have no solutions to those problems you might experience with Megapack. One thing I would like to clarify is that do not rename Megapack's folder to anything else, it must be always 'Rise of Mankind' or the mod won't work correctly. I just rename the mod version I want to use to 'Rise of Mankind' anytime I need to test bug reports on certain RoM versions - my shortcut just loads always 'Rise of Mankind' mod.

I haven't tried 2.62 megapack - just 2.62 crashes to desktop for me at times and is reported not to be multiplayer stable. I'm holding off a bit yet to really try playing either one. Looking forward to it though, as I am really interested in some of the features.

Any information as to the OOS and crashes with multiplayer yet?

Edit: Is there any chance that something isn't unpacking correctly in the megapack? I'm remembering that people had a lot less trouble with a zip upload someone made than they did with the 7z upload - maybe something wasn't finding the right folder in the 7z upload? I know that's pretty vague, but its one thing that might make sense. Not every configuration of computer is identical (as you well know!), so perhaps there is a path that works on yours, but not on a lot of other computer's set up?

I've added OOSLogger to v2.7 so that we'll locate those problem causes faster.

v2.62 megapack is packed to rar format and it has also recovery checks in case there occurs problems when unpacking some files.
