Version 2.x bug reports

Every single time I try to run either 2.4, 2.41 or 2.501 version of this mod, there is an error message during the XML check (something about the barbarian unit styles).

The Sevopedia does not display any graphics, so that units and buildings don't appear in the menus of Civilopaedia...

Every time I try to start a new game the game crashes at the "initializing"-phase and returns to operating system.

The older versions of RoM up to the 2.2 run just fine.

The only "change" I made was renaming the Rise of Mankind-folder as "rom" (as it is defined as the autoload mod folder in my BtS.)

What am I doing wrong?

Aww! Please disregard my last message... I was trying to run the mod with the old version of BtS... :hammer2:

So many things have advanced since when I started my vacation from Civ.

But anyways... There are some things which I would like to see corrected:

1.) Please rename the American Navy SEAL as "USMC" or something, since it is not that Navy SEAL anymore (but a WWII era marine), if you want SEALs when playing as the Americans, use the Special Forces unit.

2.) Use the American M4A3 tank graphics also for the generic tank... Now there are two different scale Sherman graphics in the game and they look very stupid when combined. (I hated that standard "wannabe-sherman" from the very start, to be honest.)

3.) I would also like to see Eastern bloc/communist/middle eastern civs etc. using the Soviet (Russian) equipment (MiGs, T-34's, IS-2's etc.) and same for the NATO and "western nations" (F-86's for example, and perhaps the Celtic and the Viking civilizations should also use the German tanks and flavour units in the late game!)

The points 1. and 2. are important, as the 3. is pretty easy to configure on your own.

Also, please return Islam back to Divine Right, and increase the list of required techs for it (all the medieval "hard stuff", Civil Service, Feudalism and Architecture! Also, make Dualism a lot more expensive, and make it as a requirement for Theology.

Make Masada require Mathematics.

Perhaps there should be also a little bit reduced price for Pyramids and Sphinx as they are so damn early wonders historically. And vice versa, perhaps there should be an increase in the costs of the Colossus and the Great Lighthouse and the Great Wall should be extremely expensive.

Also, the building requirements for certain early wonders and building seem to be a "bit high". For example the number of theatres required to build the Theatre of Dionysos. This is also a problem with many other buildings/national wonders (on large/huge maps).

Please consider these suggestions and give me some feedback, because I've found my Monarch-level Marathon-speed games following more "historically sound timelines" with these changes... How you guys think of my suggestions? Please express your opinions! :crazyeye:

I downloaded the mod today after a fresh install of Civ 4 with both expansions. However, after unzipping the mod into the folder and trying to load it in Civ4 BtS, the game exits and stops loading RoM, with no error messages. I do have BtS 3.17. FfH2, which I also downloaded, boots fine though. I do have the logs (though I'm not sure they record just menu dithering.) Any help?

Did you D/L RoM 2.4 Full 1st? Then patch to 2.501?

If you only D/L'd 2.501 then you only have a Patch for 2.4Full.

If you did install RoM2.4Full 1st and then patched to 2.501 did you rename the Mod to Rise of Mankind2.5, etc?, instead of keeping it as Rise of Mankind?

I cannot load the mod. It starts normally but then aborts without any message and reverts back to vanilla BTS 3.17 every time. I had this problem a couiple of moths ago and gave up on RoM. I tried again today when I saw there was a new versin 2.41, but the "cannotload mod" problem persists, even after I reboot and have nothing else active on my computer. I erased the old RoM first before installing of course. Other mods load normally. Can anyone imagine what could cause this? It's a shame because the mod is great.

my os is vista. i have been able to play 2.2 with no problems but any version after that i dont have an interface. i think it might be the new bug mod because if i alt+tab the interface comes back without any of the bug interface and the game it then frozen. good luck with the fix i love this mod.

I have the same problem with coreybowman but i use xp(sp2).No interface. 2.2 worked just fine. I load RoM2.4 (or 2.41 or 2.501beta) from bts(3.17) screen just fine. Now from the RoM screen i can't read civilopedia(i press the civilopedia button but it does nothing).I can go for a single player game but when it loads i have no interface(even in a custom game). I desperatetly want to play!:(
help

Hate to be such a wet blanket, but is there an easy way to load this mod? I have the hardest time finding the most up to date version with the most up to date patch. I mean I do like how the Fall from Heaven mod guys keep the latest patch on their bug thread in the first post as well as the current mod. Makes it really easy to find.

2.4 is the latest complete/full version, it must be installed 1st.

2.41 is it's 1st patch.

Both are located in the version thread.

Patch 2.5 beta is just that a beta patch to test the new Civics. That is why it is Not in the Version/Main thread. It's still in test phase. But so far it seems to be more stable than 2.4 alone or 2.4 patched to 2.41. Now Patch 2.41 is included in the current 2.5beta patch.

Any clearer?

JosEPh :)

I finally did manage to solve my problem. In my case i replaced bugpath.py file in Rise of Mankind/Assets/Python/BUG folder by the bugpath.py file found in the bugpath (MissingUIFix).zip file which is in the rompatch2_501beta.zip file.
So anyone who experiences no interface or no pedia/options problems please try this.It may work in your case too!

is your os vista?

yeah i have tried that. no help. i tried alt+tab but then the game freezes and there is still no bug interface. it seems like the new bug has been causing alot of problems being intergrated into other mods.hopefully some of you computor wizzes can figure this out because i love RoM and am dieing to try to civics systems.
help! will work for RoM 2.501

this has probably cropped up before, but i'm too lazy to search
the load process hangs at set up map (about two thirds into progress bar). any solution?

i've installed 2.4 with the 2.41 patch.

I'm still getting a pretty consistent CTD in the early to mid Industrial era. :( Not sure what the problem is & I've eliminated all the easy solutions. The only times I'm able to play through to the Modern era and beyond is when I so horribly outmatch my opponents in Science that they never reach it by the time I win, or by starting in the Modern era. I've included my latest attempt, with the CTD happening next turn.

Update to the 2.502 patch. Several of the Mods (Bug, RevDCM come to mind) included in RoM have some bugs that cause CTD's in the Industrial, Modern eras.

The 2.501 and 2.502 patches have updated versions plus a revamped Civics section. Much more stable for SP and MP.

Golden Age on heroic speed 10 turns intentionally or not yet adapted?

I'm getting CTDs on a large game. I didn't set a civ limit, so I think the large # of civs, huge map, wars everywhere and # of units is causing an issue.

I reset all my graphics settings, turned off a lot of the BUG extras, etc.

Is there a way to eliminate some of the small 1 city civs in the game? I never used WorldBuilder so am clueless if this could help, or if its possible.

Yes the WorldBuilder allowed me in erase mode to wipe out all cities of a Civ. I was worried I would have to find all the units, but Civ eliminated the Civs when I exited WB. Still didn't solve the CTD though.

I was playing a game on settler difficulty with about 6 civs, it was about 3000 BC, my technological development was in the Middle Ages and I got an event in one of my cities that an oil refinery there exploded. Since that oil refinery didn't exist, I only could pick one of the three possible choices: pay 6000 gold to rebuild it. I couldn't pick the other two where I would've lost the refinery, since there wasn't any refinery that I could've lost in the first place. I guess the game would've been stuck if I hadn't had enough money. I wonder what triggered that event.
