Hey people! I started making my first mod for Civ4 a few days ago and I ran into this problem. I searched for a solution for a day or two but nothing has worked so far, so I decided to register here and ask if you guys have any ideas.

The problem is that I can't save my vertical_symbols.dds in a correct size/format. The dds plugin says that 'the image width and height must be multiples of four' and doesn't let me save. The vanilla file is 131x1024, so the width is not originally a multiple of four. Now, if I change the size of the image to 132x1024, it lets me save but then the symbols show up distorted in the game. There are no other problems, not with the alpha channel or anything, the edited file works perfectly otherwise, its just the image size that screws up the whole thing.

So, does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?

Thanks in advance!

PS. I'm using Photoshop CS3 with NVidia Photoshop Plugins 7.83.0629.1500 (I also tried the latest version of the plugin, same thing with that one)

Thanks for replying!

I downloaded DXTbmp and messed around with it a bit. I found out that vertical_symbols.dds doesn't need to be 131x1024. It should be 64x1024. This way the resource symbols will show up properly after the bitmap is converted to dxt. The extra space in the vanilla file is propably just some old mipmap junk that doesn't need to be there.

So, problem solved!

BTW, I downloaded 'Mars, now!' Great work, The_J!
