Very Slow Turn Times

Ok, My stats...

A10-7800 with Radeon™ R7 Series 4.1gzh with 16 gigs of ram, SSD, 2gigs vram, 4 processor cores, 8 video, dx12.

As far as I can tell I meet requirements for this game. So I love this game, BUT, Civ 6 is a lot slower than Civ 5 when it comes to turn times. I'm playing the largest map with max Civs on epic speed and I just timed my latest turn. Turn 316, it took 5 minutes and 13.4 seconds. That same turn in Civ 5 with 43 civs and a even bigger map would take less time. I don't understand how a completely rebuilt engine with 64 bit multicore support can perform worse! I'm guessing since not many people are complaining about this that it's an issue on my end but I can't figure it out.

I have uninstalled my gfx drivers, used a driver cleaner, and reinstalled the latest ones, no improvement. Windows 10 is updated fully, system is cleaned and defragged, I have closed out every program I don't need, but the game still comes to a crawl. Can anyone please give me any tips you may have learned to speed up the turn times?

I played Civ 5 for 4 years and never was able to finish a game, loved the game so kept restarting but I was really hoping that would change with 64bit support. I'm incredibly frustrated. Is my system just ****? Thanks in advance for any help.

Just an update to this issue, after disabling windows defender my turn times have sped up significantly. Just passed turn 500 and my turns times are now around 30 seconds. Any idea why it would be causing the turn times to lag so badly for me?

Not super knowledgeable on the tech front, but I made an exception for the Civ Folder in Windows Defender that sped up the loading & start of games. I didn't notice a change in turn time though (this is my first game though so nothing to compare to). Is there a reason that you disabled versus just creating an exception?

It was a windows defender issue.. MS could already have fixed it according to reddit.

Turns have slowed down again to crawl. I decided to just upgrade my computer so I dropped $1,100 at NewEgg and hopefully it will help. This is basically a complete rebuild as I will only be reusing the SSD drive and the DVD drive. I decided to go with last Gen components so I could afford the top of the line in that Gen. So here are the details, you guys think this will help?

AMD FX-9590 Vishera 8-Core 4.7 GHz Black Edition
CORSAIR Hydro Series H60 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
SAPPHIRE NITRO Radeon R9 Fury 4gigs of HBM
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3 SDRAM
ASUS 970 PRO GAMING/AURA SATA 6Gb/s Motherboard
CORSAIR RMx Series 1000W 80 PLUS GOLD Power Supply
Corsair Obsidian Series Black Brushed Aluminum and Steel ATX Full Tower

I could always add a second GPU if I wanted. But I think this will be a huge upgrade to my A10 APU since it's a stand alone graphics card with much more powerful vRam, twice as much regular ram, and double the CPU cores. I don't know, if nothing else I can play other games better.

I would have recommended an intel cpu myself and the gpu doesn't help with the turn timers.

Yea, I know, I meant I think it would improve since I'm moving GPU processing off the CPU and the CPU is bigger and faster with more ram. I figured that should do something for turn times. Right now is just horrible on my APU.

waiting for this mod : http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=220250184 To be ported to Civ 6. I like seeing my own animations as I tend to get lost when stuff starts teleporting around when I have a large empire. I would need it for the AI doing stuff I don't care about. But your right, it helps, just not worth the trade off for me without the above mod. I wish I knew how to mod but it's all Spanish to me.
