About to try out Vietnam for the first time... two questions:

1.) Do two Thanhs next to each other give each other 2 culture and later 2 tourism?
2.) Does placing a district on a rainforest or marsh negate the negative appeal the features cause (aside from the positive appeal boost from some districts)?

1. Yes since they are districts they generate those yields.
2. No since the features stay underneath the districts they still provide their (negative) appeal. If you build on woods you keep the positive appeal as well.
