My notebook got infected and the virus removed. So far, so good. It turned out that the virus had hidden lots of files, so making them visible again solved most problems. Originally Civ4, Warlords and BtS didn´t work. After making all files visible again and also copying the complete folder Complete Civ from my wife´s notebook into my folder BtS worked again. Civ4 and Warlords continue not to work. Any ideas ?

Well unless you are sure it was a relatively harmless virus with no backdoor capabilities i would do a complete reinstall of your system.

Backup data files you wan't to keep first of course. Then wipe everything from the HD. The windows install media gives your relatively little options here iirc, thats why i always use a linux-live cd to delete all partitions.

Then do a complete reinstall of everything. Which is a pain in the behind since MS-Windowsupdate typically needs to download a truckload of update which take forever to apply... I hope you still have your civ4 installation media.

Or of course you can "trust" your AV-Software and keep your current installation. I put that in quotation mark because AV can't guard you against stuff it wasn't trained to detect... But still, if you go this route i'd say just be happy you got working BTS and play just that. There is some benefit in playing earlier versions without the AP and Espionage cruft, but those are quite little things you can easily ignore.
