I've noticed something recently, I can't be exactly sure it’s a new phenomenon, but its worrying me…

I have a dial-up modem ( :) ) and after dialling up (user name and password OK, and the dialogue dissapears), the connection status icon thing in the bottom right (the two screens) shows a yellow warning triangle for a few seconds. If I try going to any website for the first few seconds it says 'server cannot be found' or similar, like I'm still offline. After about six-seven seconds it is fine, and the little yellow warning triangle disappears.

I'm just paranoid I might have some malware that is doing something with my connection as soon as I get online, or something… Should I be worried?

I don’t have any protection apart from Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware, and Vista's built-in stuff, neither of which are updated. Though I don't really browse much of the web or have any peer-to-peer programs.

Hmm, well thanks for any help/advice/reassurance :salute:

It could be its just taking that long to actually connect after you log in.

Hmm, well I hope its something like that. It seems odd that I get the normal wait delay dialling up, it says password authenticated, the dialogue dissapears, and then theres another (but smaller) delay after that.
