Voice of Augustus

I was browsing a Latin forum the other day when I found a thread about Civ5. They were talking about Augustus's in-game speech when the guy who did the Latin voicing for Civ5 (and some of Civ4) jumped in.

So here's the thread, thought you guys would want to see.

I find some of that topic funny,

We at the Latin Forum treat you, Émile Khordoc, as a Caesar and not "just a voice actor that happens to understand the Civilization games and speak Latin

And interesting

It's the designers, not the actors, who choose the language (since the game designers provide the translated text, and the actor merely reads it), so the actor shouldn't be blamed for the use of Egyptian Arabic. He merely responded to a casting call for a speaker of Egyptian Arabic.

So, to any voice actors reading, I sincerely apologise on behalf of the Civilization community at falsely blaming you for inconsistencies!

That Émile Khordoc did an excellent job, I felt embarrassed the moment I read:

Civilization V players kept complaining about your voice, as well as your colleagues' voices, being so boring.

Maybe you have to live in Montreal, at least that's where the previous recordings were made.
It wouldn't surprise me if it turned out they had already done William of Orange in 2009 as well, there was never any Dutch City State in the game, so to get The Netherlands in the game as a civ may have been the plan from the start.
Apparantly William of Orange hardly spoke any Dutch, so it shouldn't have been difficult to find someone suitable in Montreal...

He spoke a dialect of dutch not so sure wich thats why I am wondering will it be modern dutch or the dialect

Wonderful find! Latin geeks and Civ geeks geeking out together and having fun over something almost no one else in the world would understand. This is what the Internet is for.
