Then someone who prefers C-IV is welcome to advertize for his favourite game in those forums. if no one in that bunch cares to mention and campaign for the game... guess that tells you all you need to know about that.

Sure, it will if 90% of the people that frequent the Civ 4 forums will never even notice the poll. Compare the activity of the Civ 3 forums (combined) to the activity of the off-topic forum is actually the accurate thing to do here.
Besides, I find it somewhat baffling you point out that the Civ 4 forums have five times the activity. That's somewhat that speaks heavily towards Civ 4 being the favorite of most people here.
Also, at any one time, there are only 10 or so registered users browsing all of Civ3 forums, guests cant vote. there are 80+ votes for the game.
A lot of the posters who responded to the thread itself voting for Civ3 also don't post here. They must be lapsed Civvers who felt 4 just wasn't for them and is only casually reading these forums.
Not knocking on 4 in anyways. I'd rather having Civ4 as it is now than not have it at all. But overall the whole package was disappointing. Also the poll is asking which Civ we like best, and a vote for Civ3 is not a vote against Civ4, though some of you seem to think it is.

I don't honestly care about that. If people prefer to play Civ 3 over Civ 4 that's fine for them. I just pointed out that the posting such a thread here wasn't a smart thing IF you want objective results.

People who move on to the next game in a series seldom feel the need to campaign for it in polls against it's predecessor. You tend to still remember it fondly and don't see it as a competitor to the sequel.
No offense intended by that. Personally I did my fair share of . .. .. .. .. .ing about Gothic 3 and Oblivion, which I found to fall short.
lol, no doubt. My dad had got Civ 4 & I went over to his house to borrow it. I got it home & could not get it to install correct. I was rightously pissed off because my computer was built to be a gaming machine.
