Wacked out Video Card?

Yeah, this is most certainly a video card issue. Usually these artifacts appear when your card overheats but if they're already present at system boot then it's a broken video card

oh crap, i have this problem too since I got fallout III, I got a crappy screen like that and then black flickering and then nvlddmkm error has occured and has been repaired. then it looks normal but it's very laggy for games like TF2 , sometimes it's ok after a reboot, but the problem seems to be more occuring. could new drivers help this? I'm on a lappy with GeForce Go 7600 and when i try to find drivers for it, I can't. :(

For driverss , check the manufacturers website.

If you're having the same problem after Fallout III, it may be that you've also overheated your card a damaged it.

@Phil - I hope you're not starting to see the artifacts that I was seeing :scared:

Anyway, an update. Apparently the technician finaly found out that it's actualy the Video Card that crapped out and not a HDD nor a RAM (Non-Video) error. Though unfortunately Dell wont allow the techs there to repair it and rather have their men put in a new video card.

I was, now i don't see any problems thoguh when I put tf2 on low detail
I'll raise it back a bit and see what happens.

At least you did not get the BSOD when windows is finished loading and takes you to the desktop.

If your laptop is still under warranty, I would get right on it to get a replacement video card ASAP before the card degrades to where it's nearly impossible to even get to your desktop without going into safe mode.

This makes me appreciate desktops (though I used to have one) even more since you can just pop in a replaceable video card with no hassle.

With my laptop, the gpu, while not technically replaceable, is actually removable. Ive plugged a more powerful in ( the difference aint much, considering its a Mobility M3 from ATi...)

Update: Got the video card replaced, though unfortunately, it did not worked. It ran fine up untill I was playing a game before I started experiancing freeze ups and lags right up to the point where I was experiancing the same thing as before, but instead of the BSOD. I got a sceen filled with garbage that looks similar to what happens when trying to play a dirty NES cartridge.

I may be forced to just purchase a new laptop since I have a feeling that something inside is mucking with the video card.
