Wait and Alert

There is currently no Sentry or Alert option on units. It is very frequent that you will have injured units next to an enemy with full movement points on them. You should be able to fortify the unit (for the defensive bonus) but still have him be active the next turn. There is currently no way to do this. It is very easy to forget to manually activate that unit the next turn after all of the various notifications that happen between turns.

My suggestion? Automatically give units a defensive fortify bonus when their turn is skipped. Or add a "Sentry" or "Alert" option.

Another nice reason to have a "Sentry" option is for units that are stationed outside of your territory guarding against intruders. If you leave them on a hill as a Sentry, they will "wake up" if an enemy unit comes into view, and then you can deal with it accordingly.

This game is awesome and has the potential to be better than Civ V, but I don't understand how they left out so many of the mechanics that worked so well in civ V. Hopefully they can patch it in.

I second this.
As soon as they are within sight range, you should get an alert.
 
I also cannot fathom how they left such an important function out. Did none of the devs ever actually *play* Civ before?
 
why is this gone? put your unit on sentry mode, will awaken when enemies approach? why remove it??
