Want an easy way to play Civ V online? Say hello to Giant Multiplayer Robot! (GMR)

Thanks!
Ive sent you the save, and a link for GMR game with the following letter.
Hope you find an answer!

Started up my first game on this with some friends, and one created a hotseat password but promptly forgot it - no big deal, he reloaded his turn, changed the password, and gave a new save file to me instead. However, this save file now has a different password for my turn, even though it's impossible for him to have edited it, and I can't take my turn. Is there any way to reset hot seat passwords?

Ive got a solution: started playing GMR on my notebook. It has 8gb over 4gb on my old PC, and its completely solved problems with crushing on load.

Hi guys,

I have checked the last few pages but not seen any discussion of this. In one of my GMR games, a couple of people signed up to the public beta, and as a result the save file became beta dependent (and everyone else in the game had to sign up for the beta too, to move it along).

Because I'm now on the public beta, the same has happened to my other GMR games - including those which are GnK only. However, other players in those games are telling me that because they only have GnK, they are unable to sign up to the public beta. So how can we progress the game?

Is anyone else having this issue?

Thanks.

My girlfriend, my friend, and I are trying to get a Giant Robot game rolling (and my friend and I have done it and it's friggin' awesome.) but my girlfriend is having issues. She said she's getting this error:

She was able to DL it just fine, but she was too tired to really tell me what she did. Can you guys give me some questions, or a place to start so I can help her troubleshoot this issue?

Not sure if they have time reading this forum very often but I have had success reaching them on facebook. Try there aswell.

Well, combination of facebook private message, e-mail and posting here finally worked for me.

Too bad, we lost a well played game since the replay was way slow...

I think that something is wrong with GMR support since I had to post the issue, send a private message on facebook and send an email THEN wait for 5 days before they fix the problem.

These guys made a great service people enjoy.
They should provide a faster support service for sure.

It might very well have outgrown them. They are still just normal people with a family and a job. GMR is their spare time and we shouldn't expect them to prioritize us over family during that time.

Now if they were to find competent people willing to help them out (for free I would guess) with the support mails then perhaps things would be a little easier.

Yep, I agree on "outgrown" thing. But its still a business with lots of clients like you and me.
And we payed for the service with our money - still we got our families, jobs too.

Btw we got another issue - this time a GMR game with renaissance start.

Two playmates got skipped even when they got GMR client up and running - plus our gamers mentioned that they got no e-mail notification for this game. I dont know if this an issue with GMR client or renaissance start got some differences with a game code. Its just that, I hope we get a solution.

I've payed for it - as well as many other guys who's playing on regular basis and keeping GMR thing alive and active. You can check top50 GMR score players to see how much they payed and how much they've played.
I think we deserve an ok support service at least!

And by the way there were no response for both my message here and on facebook page.
Are these guys dead or something?

edit: Well my question's been answered.

I am having a recurring problem with every GMR game I try. It's been around for every patch, every expansion. Every game.

When I play, I have the unhappiness, growth, and soPol bonuses of Warlord difficulty, as though I were an A.I. I confirmed that I joined into a Human slot that was never configured to A.I. for at least some of these cases. Often, these games will become unstable once I actually make contact with the other civs - I'll be unable to load the save, often, and players will grumble about replaying and reverting.

It seems pointless to send you any one save. Do you have some specs you'd like to know about? I am on Windows XP. How can I measure what you'd like to know?
My current game is
[redacted]

Thanks for any light you can shed. I've already got dashed hopes, there's nowhere to go but up.

Firstly I'd like to say that GMR is awesome. I've rarely had so much fun gaming.

A great addition would be a hourly breakdown of when each player has played their last 100 turns.

Eg.

GMT -12hrs 2% of turns
GMT -11hrs 5% of turns
GMT -10hrs 20% of turns
GMT -9 hrs 5% of turns
etc. etc.

This would greatly help with sorting out turn orders.

Hi guys!

im playing some MP games from time to time via Steams NQ group, but i really want to try out some GMR games.
Do you guys play usually public or private games? I think that in a GMR game leavers are even more annoying then in normal game. Can one trust the public games to have no leavers? (or at least only a few of them)

Could need some advice here! :)

thanks for your help
