WAP and CFC

has any one else tried viewing the site on their phone
I di the other day
the navagiation was a bit slow and all the pages had the the links from down the side of the main page at the top so you had to scroll throught them to get to what you wanted
also the forums didnt work

It is my understanding that WAP doesn't allow browsing of *any* web site, but selected services set up specifically for it. I know you can get browser enabled phones, but IIRC they are not "WAP". Please feel free to correct me, I could well be wrong.

Anyway, ignoring technology TLA's (three letter acromyns ), this site was never desigend to run on a crazy small screen like phones have. I doubt it will be designed for such in the near (or semi-) distant future...

I think it did cost me a bit
and it did look bad in black and white with no pictures

I dont think it's WAP you are using. WAP phones can only see pages using the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), and CFC uses HTTP.

I'm guessing your phone can read HTTP.

(I may be wrong here )

Interesting... How long did it take to load the main page on your phone?

Last time I check the main page is over 200 KB in size, images included.

Well ok I checked my phones manual and it actually says "miniBrowser" and it says browser will only work with pages "designed specifically for viewing from you mobile phone" hence some of the formatting problems with the site as described above eg no pictures

It wasnt that slow either according to the nokia website 153.6Kbps and as i understand thats faster than 56k modem dial up
any way after CFC i went to hotmail and checked my mail the difference in the formatting was huge hotmail was made for phones no offence TF but CFC obviously wasnt

also the phones a nokia 2280
