war going nowhere - what do I do?

Now that you are getting into the age of flight you should make bombers and fighters.
Bombers for well defended cities, and Fighters for less defended ones fighters can attack more than once each turn.

in one stage of the game, i like to surround the perimeter with riflemen. a few will be killed, but eventually they will develop a stalemate. then when your rifles are good and fortified, bring in the cannons.

Well on my current King game against the AI it's 7 players ME vs all 6 AI! It's 1876AD, Bloodlust we all have huge empires i have the biggest. Well me and the babylonians are on a huge super continent with 2 openings to the main ocean, with a big ocean(gulf) in the middle of our countries, and after the baby's made an offensive against me i built a huge navy of AEGIS Cruisers and Aircraft Carriers w/ too many Cruise Missles, while having howitzers and tanks come in, i move out the AEGIS Cruisers and then my AC's and blast away at the cities with cruise missles then send in the howitzers and armor. I can build nearly every military unit in under 5 turns in 75% of my cities

It's a great game! Baltimore my SSC is size 28

Yes Choose which Civ needs more of an ass whoppen an crush them with everything you have!
that will get you even in Tec when you parade though there streets and burn down there capital!

Since you have the better over the Russians at the moment slow down. You dont need to blitserzk. Just calmly wait for your units and your money and take over cities or bribe them. Then move to the viking front where you can really do some murderous attacking!!!!!

UPDATE...

The russians are mine. I easily took over their last cities with mild force and bribery, inciting revolts. Now I have Egyptians, Americans, and Vikings left. I have already advanced on the Viking front. These three cultures are strong, but small. I have over half the map, so victory is inevitable. It is just a matter of time. Probably going to take out the Vikings next, then the Americans as they are on the other end of the English/Viking/American continent.
I am English in the game.

Time to try a harder level. I thought prince would be impossible.

Great just remember DO NOT GET OFF THE STEAM ROLLER, because now that you have them were you want them you can NOT let up on them.
Do what ever it takes to keep up a good momentim. I have found that I can get a motherload of money and tec when I continually crush city after city!
Then I can lower the tax rate and raise the science and luxary rate and build great empires!
My empire is ususally founded on the dead of others!
