[BTS] Warhammer Fantasy Battles

I am so glad to see this mod still alive :) :) :)

Glad to see people enthused :-)
We'll post once we have a beta, but we'll mostly be testing the alpha internally, which we could potentially see as early as the next week or so.

As I said elsewhere, if you want to create a Warcraft mod, you would be much better suited to start with Fall From Heaven or its modmods Fall Further or Orbis. The Warhammer mod is just a Fall Further modmodmod in code terms. There are a number of guides out there for modding Fall Further, start there.

Hello, I have just discovered mod packs for civ 4 and I am a warhammer fan. Thanks for all your hard work. When I load the mod everything is great i can get all the way to launching the match and it crashes every time. I just realized I probably have never pathced the game and am doing so now. Could that cause it also are all of the patches you have done to the mod ijcluded in the most recent modpack that I just downloaded or do I have to download the individual pathces and apply them. I really look forward to playing this mod.

Thanks

The current version of this mod posted here is not compatible with BTS 3.19. We are currently working on an update that *is* 3.19 compatible, and will be significantly expanded.

If you want to try the old version of the mod now, then you need a version of BTS patched only up to 3.17.

We haven't had the time to work on it much for a while, but PL's exams finish up on Nov 10, so we should be making rapid progress after that.

Hello, I love the mod, great work. Here's a list of bugs I've ran across

-imperial roads need a civ entry

-had an issue with fog of war within my own territory but it seems workers are unaffected.

-hired assassin paused the game every time it came up & with every action it took.

-war chariot head for the nehekharan is offset from neck & on shoulder.

-Lustrian cottages not appearing on world map.

I noticed a few things since playtesting that would say the game does get a bit slow if your not warring in the late game after all tech has been researched. I would also wonder if you could allow warriors to use bronze & iron to help prevent them from becoming obsolete totally. I also want to applaud your use of graphics for the armies as I think it makes the fighting more dramatic. (I've enjoyed watching battles go to the last man @ times.) Overall a a great mod, thanks.

don't give up on this guys :) I loved 1.5 and it would be great if you could progress this warhammer mod.

Has taken a while to make sense of the 'paper trail' through all the old threads and different versions after all these years so correct me if I'm wrong on and anything and please let me know if you have the missing files and I can arrange new hosting here at CivFanatics and elsewhere to make sure they're not lost again..

There was originally a Warhammer Fantasy Battles for Vanilla Civ 4 released and then later removed due to being superseded.

Then there was a Warhammer Fantasy Battles for Civ4 Warlords released with a extra sound addon which had it's own separate thread here. However sadly the downloads are long gone, there's no webarcive backups and these releases have been lost.

Then there was a Warhammer Fantasy Battles for Civ4 Beyond The Sword 3.17 released using FFH. That is the version in the first post of this very thread your reading this in by @Ploeperpengel . Good news is I have fixed the broken image and downloads for version 0.13 and Patch E here & on the download page so thankfully this version is not lost. However it is highly unstable due to being a beta and for a older version of Civ4 BTS. There was a Patch F in the making but it was not released.

Presumably while in the process of making Patch F the project was merged with the Warhammer Mini mod project by @Psychic_Llamas which had it's own separate thread here. He did a 1.2 release and was up to a Patch C however sadly despite using the atomic gamer archive trick I was unable to rescue either file and these releases have been lost.

Presumably the merger project originally kept the Warhammer Fantasy Battles name but took on the Mini projects version numbers and had a 1.4 release with a extra sound addon in a new seperate thread here. However sadly the filefront downloads are long gone and these releases have been lost. According to the filefront webarchive backup page the download was called Warhammer_1.4.zip and was 201.31 MB. There was a Patch A released however it broke the mod and was removed from the thread but the download remains here. There was a Patch B in the making with a long list of changes but it was not released.

Presumably while in the process of making Warhammer Fantasy Battles 1.4 patch B they pivoted again and had a new version 1.5 release with a extra sound addon in a new separate thread here. Although the thread text doesn't match the thread title and says version 0.03 Alpha just to make things extra confusing lol, and I can see in the webarchive backup page that the original thread text said 1.5 as well so presumably the version numbers were 'back changed' with a future project name change. Sadly despite using the atomic gamer archive trick I was unable to rescue the files and these releases have been lost. There this a Patch A and a Patch B (not mentioned in the thread) hosted on CivFanatics but they are useless without the original main version 1.5 (0.03 Alpha) release.

Presumably while in the process of making Warhammer Fantasy Battles 1.5 (0.03 Alpha) patch B they pivoted again and the project was renamed to Warhammer Heart of Chaos, the a new version system was implemented, and had a new version 0.04 Alpha release with a extra sound addon in a new separate thread here. This is apparently the first version of the project compatible with Civ4 Beyond The Sword 3.19 (all the earlier versions including up to 1.5/0.03 Alpha will crash). However sadly the Megaupload downloads are long gone, there's no webarcive backups and these releases have been lost. There this a Patch A hosted on CivFanatics and a Patch B on Megaupload meaning it's also lost, but they are useless without the original main version 0.04 Alpha release. There was also a Patch C in the making but it was not released. This appears to be the final version of the project so it is a real shame that both this release and it's final patch are currently lost!

EDIT: Looks like there were 0.01 and 0.02 Alpha releases between Warhammer Fantasy Battles 1.5 and Warhammer Heart of Chaos 0.03 Alpha after all! Using the atomic gamer archive trick I was I was able to rescue their files so thankfully this version is not lost. However I'm not sure yet if they're compatible with BTS 3.19 as we know it happened after 1.5 and before 0.03 Alpha. Download and more details here.

So if anyone happens to have the final Warhammer Heart of Chaos 0.04 Alpha release and it's Patch B & sound addon, or even the previous Warhammer Fantasy Battles 1.5 or 1.4 versions please let me know and I can arrange new hosting here at CivFanatics and elsewhere to make sure they're not lost again.
