Warhammer fantasy units/graphics preview/development thread

Hi!
After a short break, I'm thinking about permanently slowing down. But I won't completely cease making units. Here's one.

Black orc with 2 handed weepon. It's based on the previous ork stikk bomma, with some edits:
- shinier armour
- darker pants & undercoat
- different shoulderpads
- slightly edited helmet.

I'm not sure if the shinier armour are okay, but it seems that all the warhammer black orks seem to have quite shiny armouring. Like the one in this picture

Here's the black ork preview.

I think the shiny armour is good, but maybe make the axe a bit less shiny? I think all Black Orcs have horns in their helmets.

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you could help me with something on a related matter? I want to add an Ogre resource to allow anyone to use the ogre units aaglo has amde (rather than just the orcs and goblins), but if I just whacked another resource into the game would that mess anything up?

Also, might anyone be able to whip up an appropriate graphic for an ogre resource? I was thinking a bunch of pointy red teeth sticking out of the ground (Well, mountains), like the Great Maw...

Nope, wouldn't mess a darn thing.

Also, therese is an Ogre resource in Master of Myrror.. its justa shrunken version of Embryodead's ogre.

Thanks Goldflash. I don't really care for ED's ogre (But that's okay, I don't think he does either), but I'll sort something out or use that.

I think the Black Orc looks good. As before, I think the head should be set a little lower - more between the shoulders than above them, but that's just me nitpicking. :) I also think, as YodaPower said, that Black Orcs have horns in their helms, but it's not that important to me. So, looks good. :)

By slow down, aaglo, what do you mean exactly?
That I'm not going to make units at the speed I've been doing for the last 5 months (i.e. 4-6 units per week).

The Black orc is great...I agree about the horns but if you don't want to do them it's fine with me too. I think it's a shame that you are thinking of slowing down - you are the finest unit creator I've seen.

aaglo, if anyone does you deserve a break. If you slow down then I might actually quit adding units to my mod and get it released. So no complaints from me, you've done more than enough for the fantasy community already. :beer:

@LizardmenRule!
I asked a similar question on one of the WH theads and was informed that only one army graphic can be used per game :sad:

I too was thinking how cool it would be if each faction or even civ had its own unique Army Graphic :D ... having the orcs being whipped into a battle frenzy :whipped: ... Oh well maybe in 4 eh?

@aaglo
If anyone deserves and probably needs a break it is you ... congratulations for all the stunning work you have done ... :clap: :hatsoff:

I may be wrong here, fe333au, but I think there can be more than one kind of army. I'm pretty sure in the Warhammer mod there is the regular army used for most civs, and the Asian army which is used for the Eastern human civs. But, like I said, I may be wrong.

Good luck with this test LizardmenRule! This is something I have been interested in, but never got around to trying out myself.

Note to everyone:
I didn't say I'm going to have a break - I'm only slowing down the unit making process. There's a little difference. (like in the issue of "I'm beating a person with a baseball bat, and would he rather want me to slow down or stop hitting him" :p ;) )

I'm not sure, but maybe you can have civ-specific armies in scenarios (i.e. pre-determined army graphics), but I'm not sure.

Here's something I tried to experiment with - wings. On a Fell Bat. Now, I'm not sure if the spherical body of that batty is fine, but I'm under the impression that the body of a bat is almost an ellipse. and that's what this beast is having :)

Well, what do you think of this? :) Suggestions and commentary are welcome.

[edit]: I'm planning on making the great taurus too, since it has same kind of bat-wings. :)

Well, here's a picture of the miniatures. Looks to me like you have a good start on them.
