Warhammer fantasy units/graphics preview/development thread

Excuse me for asking, but are the olog-hai those guys, that come in first from the minas tirith gate in the movie Return of the king (when the grond has broken the gate)? They look like war trolls, and this irongut looks a lot like those - save the spiked club :)

Yep, those guys. :)

I actually wondered if you styled the Irongut after the movie olog-hai.

no, it wasn't based on the movie-guy. It's based on concept art from games workshop ogres - mainly this pic:

Okay, but I disagree on the Peter Jackson -point though... :)

1. I don't know - maybe none, maybe a few.
2. ??? what's the difference (besides the difference in spelling)???

Looking at the miniatures, Ogre Butcher would probably be a very, very cool unit. :)

There is no difference, aalgo.. wa sjust being an ass. :P

That's a surprise. STFU

Oh.. aren't you clever. Whats this little triangle do?

I like ogres!

Something different for a change - different, but the size is almost the same. This is a wood-elf treeman. Not perhaps the most necessary unit, but I believe that it's fun to do anyway :)

Kewl. I think it might be perfect. :D

You continue to amaze me with the quality of your units aaglo :D

Hmmm... I like the idea very much, and the unit is a nice starting point, but there are a few niggles. The limbs look too cylindrical, not "organic" (whatever that means) enough, like something animated from a living tree. Perhaps that's not this beastie's etymology though. Perhaps make the arms and legs more slender and tapered, legs thickening towards the ground, arms thinning towards the hands. The civ-colored kneepads are also a little corny looking, though the armbands look good. Maybe have him stand up straighter? I guess I'm having trouble in thinking of this as an ent, and needing to look more tree-ish, and less stump-ish, and that might not be appropriate. Take my comments as you will. :)

Woo-hoo!!! You picked up the treeman! I'm not sure if you remember or not, but I suggested a new treeman some time ago. :) The unit is perfect, I can't think of anything to criticize.

here is a slightly edited version

I like the change on the lower legs. Just that little difference actually satisfies the tapering issue I had entirely. I like the more rigid stance, too. About the only bit I still don't like are the knees. Can you do bark texture for the whole legs, perhaps with a knot at the knees? That would make it perfect to my eye, I think.

I dont agree with clearbead on the knees. Civ color placement is more balanced with the leg stripes.

A feisty debate? Chairs thrown in anger? Naaahh, the knees were my least issue initially, and all the rest were addressed! I stand by my opinion, but I'm quite happy with how it looks overall.
