I had a very interesting turn of events which then produced a game breaking bug as it turned into a war with Netherlands that could not be stopped.

I was playing a game as china.
I was ALLIES with Netherlands (economic) and Egypt (Military) w/ upgrade 1 level.
Both simultaneously declare war.
Netherlands moves troops into my territory immediately
Emergancy is declared which targets Egypt for betrayal. I am the only one who accepts.
[next turn]
Netherlands renogotiates friendship
We are officially not at war
Netherlands still can attack me, I can still defend with my cities and attack their units. We are de facto at war.
[next turn]
I can still negotiate normally with the netherlands, I cannot make peace.
I am being bombarded by the netherlands.

In the end, I am fighting an eternal war with the netherlands because of this issue. Does anyone else have this issue? I have no idea how to go about reproducing it. I unfortunately have no choice but to stop this run and restart on a new map, or take out the netherlands completely, which goes against my plan of a cultural win.

That's an old bug, happens when the friendship is renewed and the joint war is declared on the same turn. The symptom is that someone (only ONE civ) declares a 'Formal War' against you, and at the same time somebody offers friendship. Then it's very likely that the 2nd attacker in a Joint War is your new 'friend'. The only fix is to load an autosave immediately (or not to accept friendship offer if it comes after the DoW).

As a general rule I try to initiate friendships myself to avoid this - it doesn't seem to happen when you do it during your turn. The reason must be that the game gets confused about what came first when things happen during the same turn (a part of the problem is that some stuff in the game takes the effect immediately, but some other stuff - at the start of the next turn).
