Hello all, long time no see. I was able to play Civ V again and with the improvement in AI neural voice, I decided to give custom voiceover to all the 87 great works in a mod that I enjoy, Krajzen's Great Writer's Pack using the codes I got from this beautiful and underrated mod Women's Great Writer by SamBC using DynamicResident feature I observed there.
It was a long, learning process, since I'm not a coder. I was able to do it to half of the writer in that lists in one sitting and can spawn them with the custom audio I inserted. The md5 text is legit, I used a checker for it and pasted each and every one of them right for each of the voices I was happy, even if the mod only works if I also put the Women's Great Writers mod with it, otherwise, they just wont have those voiceover.
Then I continue the process with the latter half of the list, and there it just stopped working altogether. It stopped appearing on the Mods startup screen. At this point I thought it might be the .modinfo issue ( since I still just overwrite any new files info into Krajzen's file since I dont have modbuddy) so I deleted the new .modinfo file and instead use the .modinfo file from the previous session, and now none of the new great writers just wont spawn. I use the Great Writers Removal mod to check and I can only spawn generic great writers that had no works of literature. If I also included the women great writer mod, then these ladies would appear normally, but none of my customs would.
Here, I put the .xml and .modinfo files of the two great writers mod I've been using and an example of the custom voice I've been using. My questions are..
1. How can I fix it, bringing back the custom great works of literature voiceovers that I have created into the game again? I still used the same code for it and in my current understanding it just doesnt work anymore. Did I add too much people, causing the mod to crash?
2. Can I make this mod not dependent on the Women's Great Writer mod, so If I share it I dont have to share them both?
3. Can anybody that has modbuddy help me compile this mod? I was under the impression that the mod crashing because of its .modinfo file is because I dont have that program. Its an old one, and I just dont think I can learn another one super specific app atm just for this one mod. I have been using notepad or Visual Studio Code for these, but I think its just not its "native" app because I tried changing the info on it and the game just wont read it. I tried adding myself to the special thanks in the .modinfo, and it doesnt work. Is it because I've changed the .modinfo so much? Should I tried it in a fresh new .modinfo file? But then again, they used Modbuddy to make them, right?
Its been a long time since I visited a forum, so pardon if I questioned it long or weirdly. I'm just heartbroken because I've spent 3 days making those voices and inserting them after initial testing worked, but suddenly it stops and I just dont know whats wrong. Help would be appreciated, but if anybody would just fix and compile the mods altogether, I would be even more elated lol because I just want to move on in some ways. I've got Civ V again for a week and I think I've spent equal time modding and tinkering than actually playing the game. So I want to minimize the time I've tinker with the code and stuff and just enjoy the game as it is.. Hope that clear things up. Thanks in advance everyone.
