Was Abraham Lincoln gay?

I've heard someone say that in an internet forum and so I thought I'd ask some people who surely know about it.

Was he gay or just anti-slavery?

Dont take random thoughts that someone said in an internet chat as facts. Cmon now you should know better.

I really doubt he was gay there is nothing to suggest in the slightest bit in the history of abraham lincoln that he was gay. Everyone in the US has to take american history from colonial times to the civil war. Sure the text books arent going to go into detail on that even if it was proven and it was common knowledge he was gay. But he was married had lots of kids and really didnt do much that would make him look gay.

Sleeping with a man at that time wouldnt be called gay if you were close friends unless you werent wearing any clothes. Its certainly not gay for little kids of the same sex to sleep together either and that is still practiced today.

In his 20's he shared a small apartment with another guy and they had only one bed. He wasn't gay, he just didn't have enough money for a larger place to live.

His immediate predecessor as President, James Buchanan, might have been gay. His alleged partner was the Vice-President of the previous President. Though I don't think James Buchanan was gay; he was clearly heterosexual until his fiance committed suicide, then he simply showed no interest in women at all (understandably).

An astute observation

I think its funny that we go back through history and speculate on whether major historical figures were gay or not.

Was Hitler gay?

Was Lincoln gay?
