Ways to force open borders for Great Musicians?

What's the point of borders like the one between USA and Canada? Nonsense. Borders are obsolete in the XXI century. At least between civilized countries. /offtop

Oh man, you Europeans are the best. Super enlightened ever the beacon of hope to the rest of us in the dark and uncivilized world.

On a less sarcastic note, even those 26 super civilized Schengen Area countries want a passport check and a stop at immigration from foreigners upon first entry.

Sometimes, if you beat an AI's ass bad enough in a war, you can get open borders as part of the peace treaty.

How so? You need an embassy to get the open borders. Never had an enemy civ ever able to accept embassies as part of a treaty, and I've done some plenty bad whooping.

You've obviously never travelled. Border guards and beauracrats, can and do refuse entry to their country. Plenty of artists aren't allowed to enter China including Brad Pitt. Yet they let me in.

Lots of people get turned away at the Canada US border because they've been arrested too many times. Various rappers including KRS-One can't get across the border to do shows in Canada. Flavor Flav had a lot of trouble getting in due to many drug convictions and probably some gun related charges...

Just imagine your great musicians are violent, drug crazed, boheimians, you can see why the border patrol refuses to stamp their passport and let them across the border.

But yeah, if missionaries are allowed in even with closed borders, it's kind of bs that Great Musicians aren't.

I'm sure those civilization would like to keep great prophets out as well, but don't seem to be able to manage it. No reason a musician should be different.

Certainly makes more sense than being able to go on a tour in a country you declared war on.

Gameplay-wise, prophets are easy to counter with missionaries but musicians are not. That's why it's ok to have different rules for them.

Well, you can counter musicians with great writers and culture in general. Prophets can be a lot harder for other civ's to block--particularly those who haven't founded their own religion.

You can't win the game by spamming all civs with your religion, although having a shared religion will buff your tourism.

How so? An inquisitor or two and the prophet can't do anything.
