Ways to meet civilizations?

Hey i was just curious,

i was playing a Mesopotamian map and was well on my way for a scientific victory when i researched satellites. low and behold i didnt even meet china and japan on the other side of the map.

my question is, is there any way to meet these civs without sending a unit all the way to their border? that would have taken soo many turns and i didnt even attempt it. there wasnt a city state that i had discovered nearby so i couldnt one out to discover the civ either..

Not that I know of. But the victory screen will show any unmet Civs as question marks so you know how many you have missed so far.

Buy a chopper, those things are pretty fast and can climb mountains.

But aside from CS, or them finding you, you are pretty much stuck finding them yourself sorry
