Welcome New Members

Hi,

Haven't played any Civ's for awhile (the 90's!) but always enjoyed it back in the day - CIV Rev got me wired back in because it allows me to get in and play, have a good time, then get out without spending days on end to get a result. At this point in my life, the 3 hour experience is just about all I can handle; love the game and think it's a triumph in the sense of having enough detail to keep me engaged without requiring a big time investment.

Cheers,

Zuju

Hello all!

Let's see! I became a fan of Civilization back on my Tandy, I believe! I played for awhile and really enjoyed it. Finally picked up Civ III years later, but having not kept up with it, I was rather overwhelmed by the complexities that were added, and was back to getting destroyed by the AI, even on the easiest difficulties. (I think I was able to do okay again, but only on easy still -- it's rather inspiring to hear about how others do so well, but I've yet to replicate it. )

I recently installed DosBox and have been playing Civ I again ^o^ This lead me to this web community when I was looking for CivHacked and other mods ^^; (I recently introduced a friend of mine to the original game)

Guess that's about it!

Hello civ fanatics!

Been playing civ 1 and civ 2, just picked civ 4 (with both extensions) last week and I'm having a blast. Nice website and forums!

Finally got a laptop with enough cowbell to run Civ IV. It's sat on a shelf since 2005 while I played III and TAMIII to death.

I love the new perspective and look of IV. Still getting my head around the new civics, religion etc.

I was a Emperor level player for Civ III, so am looking forward to mastering the new one as well.

I found this site quite by accident, read some of the blogs and became quite interested.
End result - here I am! :crazyeye:
I need to become more acclimated to your postings, your attitudes and discussions, before I would feel comfortable espousing any of my thoughts, and I do have many, too many.
I am on the computer constantly, e-mailing and faxing Congressional Members (both houses, both parties, and committee members) about the idiotic, greedy, power grabbing, uncreative, thoughtless, (in this case meaning no thought put into the matter), one party sided things they are doing. My main topic at the moment being the unrepairable harm they are putting our country into, by throwing money into the fan, (which is on reverse flow, so it's sucking it in) of every problem that needs to be solved. When that does no good, they throw some more money at the fan, which sucks it up, spews it out the back and they wait to see what happens. There is NO PLAN - just a wing and a prayer. Of course, it's your money and mine that's being thrown at these problems and we will be paying for this in higher taxes for the rest of our lives and so will our children and their children. How long does it take to pay back a $13 TRILLION debt?
At any rate, Hi to All,
Sandilynn

After reading the posts of the noobs below (on other forums we call them newbies), I totally, thoroughly and hanging my head in shame, believe I miscalculated what this blog/chat room was about. I apologize for my last post insertion and please disregard!
Sorry,
Sandilynn

Welcome to CFC whoever happens to join!

Why are we allowing ourselves to stay in a clostrophobic atmosphere? At least say: "It is not done". Wherever u stay, matters little. What matters is : protest. We are not supposed to lead a life like slaves, getting commands from THE HEAD QUARTER.

Hello everyone!Greetings from China!
I'm a Chinese player.I have been playing Civ4 for almost 2 years. In my point of view, Civ4 is a game of depth, which is worthy of tasting. What is more, it also enlarge my vocabulary.
I really hope we, players from all over the world, can be united by the same hobby!

I'll keep it brief(ish), at least for now.

Hello Civsters!

I stumbled across the site a few days ago, having recently revivied my near-obsession with Civ IV (i.e. starting a game on a whim, and two days later buying the 'Complete Civ IV pack')

Brief reads of a couple of articles (notably Sisiutils beautifully compiled tips/guide) made me realise just how far short of 'ability' I was when I first started playing Civ IV - and explained why (on lower difficulty settings) I would just about stumble to a time victory (although I have one Domination, one Diplomatic, and 2 Space Race victories to "boast" too)

Very much looking forward to putting things into action, to planning and specialising my cities, to switching off worker automation, and to not feeling fear every time I see a stack of three units anywhere near my borders.

Good to be here!

What's up everybody?

Okay, I'll keep this short. I'm a college student (Freshman at Clemson University) and have been playing Civilization since late 1999 (wow, that's half my life...) with Call to Power. I've since played Civ III and IV, and continue to alternate between playing the two. I've never really played them on the harder difficulties, probably because I enjoy them so much on the medium ones. Anyway, I'm an active member of several forums, and plan to be here too.

Hi, just getting started with the Civ 4 forum, and game for that matter. I had read such good reviews about it that I thought that I would give it a try.

I love all of the information that this site hosts. After having only played though 4 different scenarios I have lots of questions....and yes I did read the manual. I'll thank the group in advance for all of the help

Thanks,

Hello,

I am a grad student and will be teaching a class on Science Technology and Society beginning in Januray 09. I am planning on using Civ IV in the class to talk about the benfits and consequences of choosing technologies in socitey. the problem with that is that I am not very familiar with playing the game. I played it a little bit back in the 90s.

I live in Columbia Missouri. Would anyone be interested in helping me get up to date quickly with the game? If so please email me at kms58f@missouri.edu

Dear all fans,

I've played every Civilization sequel since 10... 15... maybe 20 years ago... (But still play suck... :p )
Now I'm a father of 2-year-old boy (you know what "terrible two" means... ), and will have another daughter coming next month. Everyday is laundering day and dish wasking day to me, and it seems endless... >"<
But yesterday I forgot the time and played Civ4 Colonization till 02:00AM... (And it almost killed me when I came to office today...)

I just want to say I love Civilization so much!!!
Oh, and don't tell my wife what happened yesterday, please~~ ;)
Have fun! :goodjob:

Hallo Peoples XD
I am a lover of Civ 3 and 4, being the only two i've played, and I just finished Kaels guide to making a mod so I have a few questions. One is does anyone know how to edit the terrain so that peaks, ice, tundra, and snow are all deleted withouut messing up the game? I tried just deleting them but then when i tried to play the game it went to main menu fine, but froze when i actually clicked go after setting up the features of my game. So ye, i hate those terrains and want them gone! Oh, and also, how do you create new units and such?

I'm a noob to both Civ4 and PC gaming in general. Bought civ4 complete due to the good reviews and i look forward to joining in when i can. Having some initial teething troubles though so i apologise in advance for my lack of knowledge and i hope some kind souls will spare me their aid.

Thanks in advance guys

I've been playing Civilization since version 2, but I've never thought of modifications until finding this sight. More power to the clever folks that come up with them.
