(If you can get it working on your current system) CivAssistII will tell you the exact settings, even for Random-everything maps: top button, "General", IIRC
I did not RC.

The map-settings information is actually available through the "World Map" button: right-click on the map, select "Properties".
 
I mean, what if AI opponents started to consider your empires culture, military size or population while trading _techs_?

They do that:
-1 If you have a culture lead. +1 if the AI has the culture lead.
[...]
Power lead: If you have a power lead, most of the good effects (negative numbers) are halved. ROP is one of them that still gives you the full points no matter who has the power lead.

Trading is easier if you are weaker in terms of power, but easier if you have the stronger culture.
