Were DOS graphics better on DOS computers? I was wondering this when I noticed that the intro video for civ 3 was pretty choppy on windows XP, but was better on my old computer (ME), and that the intro video for Age of Empires looked very pixelated, like it had been zoomed in. And I supposed that it was like this with most old games on newer computers, so why not DOS?

the only thing i cant think about it screen resolution and size. As far as the raw image is concered the shouldnt be any differences. But if you are using a screen with a larger resolution you will notice increased pixelation.

mmm, the intros are choppy on mine because i have a prehistoric gfx card. but handyandy is right, resolution is a factor here. to be honest, i've never used windows dos, but i've tried old games on xp: experience=don't.

Use dosbox for the old games. Otherwise, the choppiness could be the video card and drivers, for instance, onmy computer, most intro videos are choppy when im using win2k. But with XP they run fine
