Continents standard prince game here. Random pick China with Siam and Washington as very close neighbors. After about 75-100 turns Ashurbanipal shows up just north of Siam and as it turns out he has conquered most of Siam. I help him finish his conquest and turn my attention towards Washington.

Now Washington has a slight tech lead on me and he has a couple wonders I want, so I DOW (he asked me the border question so I kinda had to) and take two cities. In route to Washington Ashur DOW's me out of nowhere. I had a couple chu's and forts guarding the mountain pass to my cap., and he wasn't able to break through.

Long story short, I take America's capitol after Ashur sues for peace and I accept. His status now claims that he is extremely threatened by my warmongering. A denounce follows, and I am extremely confused. He conquers half a continent, wipes out a civ, DOW's me...but I'm a warmonger? Guess I'll have to make that statement true

The AI expects you to behave like it does. The warmonger hate to Ashurbanipal from other civs would be high and it is expected you act the same. If you are friendly towards Ashurbanipal(trading etc) then it would look like you are being deceitful(even though you are not). Also he is warmongering so it makes sense he'd DOW you.

When playing civ you must not worry about what other civs are doing, only what you are doing....(unless of course they are directly targeting you).
