It has been established that one cannot approach civ V with the same exact skills and tactics that work in Civ IV and expect to win. So what are you doing to modify your play style (if anything) in Civ IV to get ready for V?

I personally have started playing games with tech trading turned completely off, since one cannot swap techs in V (yes you can collaborate on them, but not swap).

What about everyone else?

im uninstalling Civ IV and hoping Civ V makes sense

So candle86, after failing to get anyone to agree with you on the cIV forum you came here to try your luck.

cIV is an awesome game, deal with it.

no i have to wonder if Sid Meier actully had something to do with Civ IV, Civ III was excusable because Brian Rynolds had his hands in it, if Sid worked on Civ IV then he lost his touch

I guess you are still missing the fact that most people actually like cIV.
Dont get me wrong, civ II was awesome.....at the time, but cIV is so much better on so many levels, and unfortunately you will never find that out cause you are so stubborn in you belief that cIV sucks.

My personal favorite was Alpha Centauri, but trust me cIV has so much more to offer than you give it credit for.

Yeah...after seeing your reasons as to why Civ IV sucked so much in the Civ IV forum...you probably won't like V either. I'd just stick to II and stop complaining...

I've stopped playing iv. I'm going to try and forget everything, that way I don't go into V trying to play as I did in IV. I'm also hoping it will give me a better appreciation of V.

its not going to be like some totally new game to those familiar with civ. For people that have played any civ series, I would imagine the learning curve is quite low really. Sure you can power-game and that can get a bit complicated, but its not hard to win on the even difficulties (noble equivalent), you can do virtually everthing wrong and still win on noble. The advisors and innovative GUI makes things that much easier also.
