How could anyone refrain from weeping upon hearing Barber's Adagio for Strings (Agnus Dei)? It transcends human language. It is sublime.

I've had this in my head a lot lately, partially due to my recent reading of an excellent graphic novel adaptation of Wagner's Ring Cycle by P. Craig Russell.

As a former Catholic schoolboy, I confess the nuns infected us with a taste for classical music. Since then, I've experienced the creation of the Minimalist school. I'm particularly drawn to John Adams and Philip Glass.
